Get StartedThe U.S. Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) is seeking to lease out ocean areas for floating wind farms, with transmission cables back to shore. The Coos Bay Wind Energy Area is an area of 95 square miles (61,000 acres) of ocean area approximately 30-50 miles off the coast of Douglas & Coos Counties. This advisory vote will inform the Coos County Commissioners of the broader will of the people and help determine whether or not the voting public wishes for Coos County to allocate time or resources to opposing wind energy projects in the Area.
A 'YES' vote means you want the Coos County Commissioners to work in opposition to offshore wind energy projects in the Coos Bay Wind Energy Area, as currently proposed.
A 'NO' vote means you do not want the Commissioners to oppose such projects.
