Measure No. 34-338 - Advisory Vote on Fluoridation of Hillsboro's Drinking Water

Summary

This is an advisory ballot measure, which is not binding, to determine if voters in Hillsboro would like to add fluoride to the City's drinking water system. Hillsboro supplies drinking water to most City residents and businesses and to wholesale customers including other municipalities. A portion of City residents and businesses receive water from Tualatin Valley Water District (TVWD). Hillsboro currently does not add fluoride to its drinking water supply, but TVWD fluoridated drinking water for its Hillsboro customers. This advisory measure asks voters if Hillsboro should add fluoride to its drinking water system for the water customers served by the City. Opinions regarding the benefits and hazards of fluoridating water are varied. Therefore, the City wants voters to provide their preference whether or not to fluoridate the City's drinking water system.

A yes vote would advise the City to take steps to add fluoride to the water system.

A no vote would advise the City not to add fluoride to the water system.
