Get StartedShall the tax limitation imposed under Article IX, Section 6 of the Michigan Constitution on the taxable property in the County of Iron be increased by .27 mill ($0.27 on each $1000 of taxable value), subject to any applicable Head tax roll back under Article IX, Section 31 of the Michigan Constitution, for the period of four years, 2025, 2026, 2027, and 2028, inclusive, the taxes so raised to be used exclusively for the operations of all Senior Centers in the County of Iron. The taxes raised, after allowance for expenses and audit costs, shall have $10,000.00 distributed to each operating Senior Center in the County of Iron and the balance distributed to the Senior Centers based upon the number of persons age 60 or older as determined in the last decennial census in each township, village, and city within the County of Iron. This levy would raise an estimated $186,620.00 for the first year. (This is a renewal of the .27 mill for which will expire with the 2024 tax levy.)
