Proposition 448 - Proposed Charter Amendment Relating to Recommendations from the Charter Review Committee Pertaining to an Election When Only Two Candidates Are Nominated and Declaring a Winner in the General Election

Summary

If approved, this Charter amendment would provide that if only two candidates officially qualify for the ballot, only a General Election will be held and the candidate receiving the highest number of votes in the General Election will be declared elected. A “YES” vote shall have the effect of adopting the proposed amendment to the City Charter. A “NO” vote shall have the effect of rejecting the proposed amendment to the City Charter.

A "YES" vote on Proposition 448 is a vote in favor of Amending the Charter to provide that if only two candidates officially qualify for the ballot, only a General Election will be held and the candidate receiving the highest number of votes in the General Election will be declared elected.

A "NO" vote on Proposition 448 is a vote in opposition to Amending the Charter to proved that if only two candidates officially qualify for the ballot, only a General Election will be held and the candidate receiving the highest number of votes in the General Election will be declared elected.
