Public Measure b - Lodging tax

Shall the following public measure be adopted? Shall the County of Calhoun, Iowa be authorized to impose a hotel and motel tax, as provided by Chapter 423A of the Iowa Code, at a rate not to exceed seven percent (7%) effective January 1, 2023 which shall be imposed in increments of one or more full percentage points upon the gross receipts from the renting of sleeping rooms, apartments or sleeping quarters in a hotel, motel, inn, public lodging house, rooming house, manufactured or mobile home which is tangible property or tourist court, or any place where sleeping accommodations are furnished to transient guests for rent, whether with or without meals, all as defined in Iowa Code Section 432A and direct that the proceeds of said tax to be used: 50% Economic Development and Tourism, 50% Parks and Recreation.
