Get StartedShall a special one percent sales and use tax be imposed in the special district of Whitfield County for a period of time of sixteen calendar quarters (4 years) and for the raising of an estimated amount of $66,000,000 for the following purposes, pursuant to an Intergovernmental Contract, dated January 27, 2020, among Whitfield County, Georgia, the City of Dalton, the City of Tunnel Hill, the City of Varnell and the Town of Cohutta: (A) funding the following capital outlay projects for Whitfield County: (1) Capital Renovations to the Courthouse campus and to the Jail facility, (2) Acquisition payments for Fire Station 12; capital renovations to fire stations, fire department vehicles; Sheriff vehicles, (3) Animal control Capital projects, (4) Library Capital Improvements, Building and Technology, (5) Capital Road Improvement projects, bridge and culvert repair and construction; general road paving and public works equipment; (6) Design and Construction of Riverbend Park infrastructure, community center and athletic fields; Westside Park/Miracle Field capital improvements and athletic fields; Rocky Face Ridge Park capital improvements; (7) Sewer capital improvements, Carbondale/Connector 3/Cleveland Highway and (8) bond financing cost of issuance and interest costs if utilized; (B) funding the following capital outlay project for the City of Dalton: (1) Police vehicles; police equipment, Property and Evidence building/lab, fire engines and aerial apparatus, rescue equipment for fire department, (2) Capital Improvements to John Davis Recreation Center, renovations to Heritage Park; (3) Renovations to Dalton-Whitfield Senior Center, and (5) Streets, Bridges and Stormwater Projects and equipment; (C) funding the following capital outlay projects for the City of Tunnel Hill: (1) Sewer Capital Improvements and expansion, (2) Police Vehicle and (3) Capital renovations to Depot; (D) funding the following capital outlay projects for the City of Varnell: (1) Parks and Recreation Capital Improvements, (2) Sanitation equipment, (3) Public Safety Capital and Equipment, (4) Administrative Capital Equipment, (5) Paving and Sidewalks, (6)Public Works maintenance facility; and (7) Sewer Capital Improvements; (E) funding the following capital outlay projects for the Town of Cohutta: (1) Public Safety and Security Equipment, (2) Capital Renovations to City Hall, (3) Building and Grounds equipment, and (4) Park Capital Improvements.
