Appleton is doing a lot to ensure we remain sustainable and future-focused in our environmental policies, but more can be done. We must prioritize investing in green spaces in place of our unused lots, and continue to plant native plant species throughout the city. We must also ensure that our dependence on fossil fuels decreases, whether that’s through investments in public transit, bicycle infrastructure, or more. Keeping the bike lanes on College Avenue while investing more in bicycle infrastructure will help with traffic safety and sustainability. Learn more
Appleton is growing. With this growth comes acknowledging that we need hundreds —if not thousands—of new housing units to keep up with demand into the next decade. Part of overcoming this challenge is understanding that “home” looks different for everyone. We shouldn’t focus on building single-family homes, but also townhomes, duplexes, and multi-family units.
