Get StartedWe must expand abortion access so that it is widely available to everyone. Learn more
Trans women are women. Trans men are men. The Department of Corrections must recognize gender identity and grant people in custody housing consistent with it. Learn more
Conversion therapy is deeply harmful. We have banned conversion therapy for children and must also do so for adults under guardianship. Learn more
Our current carceral system sets people up for failure; we must implement a 6 month Universal Basic Income program for people leaving prison to reduce recidivism, set people up for success, and create long term reductions in crime. Learn more
Ending fines for fare evasion and move towards fully public and free subway access. Learn more
Reducing police presence on subways, and investing in non-police alternatives. Learn more
Drug use is a public health issue, not a crime, and should therefore be legalized. Learn more
Sex work is work. We must decriminalize sex work, so that we can provide adequate protections for those who engage in consensual sex work. Learn more
Police are ill-equipped to respond to a large majority of 911 calls, and often exacerbate rather than diffuse crisis situations. We must defund and demilitarize police departments while also working within communities to identify more targeted responses. Learn more
Mandatory minimum sentences ruin lives, and we must repeal them. Learn more
We must eliminate the use of cash bail and the use of pretrial detention. The practice of incarcerating people who are legally innocent - in most cases simply because they are not wealthy enough to pay their way out - is inhumane and flies in the face of the presumption of innocence. Learn more
People have the right to a meaningful review of their conviction, including in cases where the person pled guilty. New York State ranks third in the country in numbers of wrongful convictions and nearly every felony case ends in a plea deal. Yet our laws make it nearly impossible for New Yorkers to clear their names. Learn more
Expanding protected bike lanes, and ensuring that e-bikes, motor-bikes, and traditional bicycles have dedicated lanes. Learn more
Older adults serving long sentences should have the opportunity to demonstrate their transformation to the Parole Board. Learn more
We need greater investments in community violence prevention and support strategies. These sorts of programs should be expanded and funded. They could not only provide a meaningful way to reduce violence without resorting to the harmful costs of sending people to jails and prisons, but also give our communities a real chance at addressing harm with compassion, efficiency, and equity. Learn more
High stakes testing is an inadequate indicator of academic skill, and disfavors low-income students and students of color. More assessment pathways must be created, such as performance based assessment tasks (PBAT), and made available at all schools. Learn more
We must get police out of schools, and instead fill schools with guidance counselors and additional resources that meet the basic needs of students. Learn more
Specialized High School Admission Tests discriminate against students of color and low income students, and we should move towards their elimination. Learn more
Our schools have been underfunded: we must tax the ultra-wealthy so that we can bring the necessary foundational aid to students. Learn more
Public higher education should be free for all students, and the state must fully fund it and provide a New Deal for CUNY. Learn more
Charter schools take resources away from traditionally public schools, and often exclude students with disabilities and students of color; we must place a moratorium on charter schools. Learn more
We need to move away from ConEdison and towards a strong New York Power Authority, which is why I support the Build Public Renewables Act, which allows the Power Authority to build new, renewable infrastructure that it owns and operates, and the New York Utility Democracy Act, which transfers New York’s energy systems into public ownership within two years. Learn more
I will cosponsor the All-Electric Building Act, which mandates that, after 2023, all new buildings run solely on electricity. Learn more
I will also use my electoral power as an elected official to support progressive, decarceral environmental champions. In addition to expanded bus and bike lanes in my district, I will support new transit developments in other parts of the city and state, including QueensLink, Interborough Express, and a statewide high speed rail network. Learn more
Primary election days should be recognized as state holidays. Learn more
New York State elections should be publicly financed, similar to New York City elections. Learn more
We must increase state funding to local counties for the administration of elections so that election day can run smoothly. Learn more
We must professionalize the Board of Elections, and ensure that all appointees are subject to New York’s civil service laws. Learn more
New York’s felony disenfranchisement laws are vestiges of Jim Crow: we must change the law to grant all New Yorkers the right to vote, regardless of immigration status or criminal history. Learn more
Voter data should be free and accessible to the public. Learn more
Many states are able to achieve more functional administrations of elections by having an elected secretary of state; we should study the feasibility of operating under a similar framework in New York. Learn more
We must create health coverage for undocumented New Yorkers. Learn more
We must do everything we can to help tenants stay in their homes, and support our neighbors experiencing homelessness in finding secure, safe, affordable housing. Learn more
The housing market must be stabilized. One way to do so is by giving tenants the opportunity to buy the home they are currently renting. Learn more
All immigrant New Yorkers should have the right to vote in local elections, hold public office, and access social services. Learn more
New York can only truly be a sanctuary state when we pass legislation prohibiting state officials from cooperating and disclosing information regarding immigration status with ICE. Learn more
Increase accessibility in public spaces, especially transit. Learn more
Keep in place and expand remote attendance for all open meetings, and ensure that captions and interpreters are available at such meetings. Learn more
The Assembly needs to pass the Clean Futures Act, which will ban new fossil fuel plants. The language of this bill only permits new fossil fuel infrastructure when there is no reasonable renewable option; upon the passage of the Clean Futures Act, I will ensure that this clause is rarely implemented and is not used as a loophole for big oil. Learn more
We must repeal loopholes in the tax code that give subsidies to luxury developers. Learn more
Ensure wage equity for people with disabilities. Learn more
