Get StartedAs Senator, I will continue to work with our Local Stakeholders, County, State, and Federal partners to ensure our First Responders have the necessary resources to perform their jobs safely with regard to their wellbeing. I will continue to work with the Police Chief and Police Unions to improve our law enforcement tactics and community policing. We will implement continuing education and training for officers centered on inclusion, sensitivity, compassion, and understanding the social dynamics of the communities we serve. We need to create an environment in which law enforcement and the community are held accountable for their actions. We also need community members to be engaged and involved in creating policy solutions to tackle crime and create safer neighborhoods across Senate District 35. While accomplishing all this we need to continue to promote the vision of engaging every officer with the districts residents and businesses. Fighting crime in the district and creating a space where everyone can thrive is our number one priority. I also strongly support Senate District 35 Police Department’s “Coffee with a Cop” program, which has become a national and international model for community policing. By creating opportunities for police officers to connect with the community they serve, we can build stronger relationships and foster mutual trust and respect. Finally, I am CERT certified for any natural disaster, which means that I am prepared to assist my community in the event of an emergency. Our mission is to empower the residents of Senate District 35 with sustainable economic opportunities that improve their lives and our communities. We accomplish this by promoting livable wages and implementing attractive incentives for businesses to come and expand our district. My mission is to put people before politics. My major goals are to focus on social policies and economics to improve housing, education, employment, mental health, and social equality for all district residents. I will eliminate unnecessary barriers to entrepreneurship, business development, and the opportunities to connect people with jobs in our communities. With my background in small businesses and entrepreneurship, I am an advocate for common-sense economic policies that both benefit the owner and the people. My goal is to create a hybrid marketplace with innovative technology that benefits both business owners and workers. I will invest in existing and new industries by simplifying the process for businesses and developers to build, establish new businesses, or reinvest existing ones. It is my desire to appeal to private-sector investment by convening a workgroup, designed to bring together business professionals, community, and stakeholders to strategize policies to reinvent Senate District 35. This effort should be strategic so communities that have long been underserved will benefit from an infusion of capital investments. Flourishing communities start with our small businesses, which are the backbone of our economy. I will continue working and meeting with business owners in Senate District 35 to hear their concerns. We need to give the private sector a platform that makes investing in the district and its people a win-win for all. As Senator, I will advocate for increasing workforce development through training and livable-paying jobs. Building the wealth of every class will help strengthen the overall economy of the district. All of Senate District 35 children, in every neighborhood, should have access to quality education and Universal Preschool. As Senator, I will collaborate with the school districts and lead the effort to advocate for a fully funded k-12. I will advocate for State Facility Funding in order to have our school buildings comfortable and safe, and give our teachers the tools they need to be successful in the classroom. It is critical that our children are prepared for their future. I want to push for more career college opportunities and STEM Education for early learners to increase preparedness in elementary school and beyond. Furthermore, my goal is to work with the school districts and community leaders to help create pathways for graduates to develop skills that align with the workforce needs. As Senator, I want to increase home ownership in Senate District 35. As a district, we can better coordinate our efforts to provide housing stability, increase home-buying incentives for working and middle-class renters and potential residents. We need to make our code enforcement system more responsive, hold absentee landlords accountable, and have better maintenance of their building(s) and vacant lots. If elected, I will continue advocating for the HOME BUYER LOAN HOMEOWNERSHIP house-buying program and work with contractors to rebuild our dilapidating houses, apartment buildings, and help apartment owners revitalize our communities to create smart and affordable housing. Stable and affordable housing is critical in fighting poverty in our community. We also need to invest in helping our homeless community by collaborating with the Los Angeles County Homeless Initiative to create more community engagement, case management, mental health, and permanent housing for unhoused individuals.
