We also need to decrease university costs, as tuition can be sometimes as high as $50,000 per year for private universities in the USA, and no student should be burdened with such tremendous costs. When I was studying as a full-time undergraduate student at a globally-ranked research university in Scotland, United Kingdom, in-state tuition was only £1,820 (roughly $2,271) per year. Learn more

Environment / Energy

The Green New Deal is ambitious, and I am in full support. I call upon a Federal "Carbon Fee and Dividend" Plan. A carbon fee will be placed on carbon-based fuels at the source & on importers, where the fee will increase over time. Eventually clean energy will become cheaper than fossil fuels, incentivizing investors and entrepreneurs towards more cleaner energy technology. Learn more

Guns

I call for establishing a strict national standard for gun licenses and a national background check registry both in-store and online. There should be no gun-loopholes and every gun buyer should be subject to the same background standard. Learn more

I want to ban the sale and distribution of assault weapons. Assault weapons are designed and sold as machines of war and no civilian should have access to it. This also reaches to banning high-ammunition capacity magazines. Learn more

Healthcare

I call for providing universal public healthcare coverage through a single-payer program for all Americans through Medicare-For-All and reducing administrative costs, medical costs, and profits. Learn more

Even after the Affordable Care Act, over 27 million Americans still lack health coverage. Our healthcare system is wasteful, ineffective, and inefficient with hundreds of billions of dollars fueling tremendous administrative costs and executive compensations, a healthcare system that is designed for profit and not for the people. Housing

It must be understood that Congress has a public-housing policy for the rich when it subsidizes the homes of the highest-income households through the mortgage interest deduction which benefits 7 million households, who earn more than $200,000, and not the 55 million lowest-income renters. This is unacceptable, and people who work 40 hours a week should not be making a choice between food/necessities and a roof. This is a violation of human rights. Learn more

I am in full support of the Common Sense Housing Investment Act H.R. 948 to reform the mortgage interest deduction (MID) by capping it. The savings should be reinvested to help more families struggling to pay their rent. Through this plan 25 million low and moderate-income families who own homes will receive a tax break. More than $241 billion will be reinvested towards proven solutions ending homelessness and housing poverty through the funding of the National Housing Trust Fund, rental assistance and affordable housing investments. Wages / Job Benefits
