Get StartedI am pro-law enforcement. I oppose any legislation intended to either take away or lessen an officer’s ability to do his or her job in the name of social reforms and defunding efforts. We also need to take a closer look at the security of and investments in our police and fire pensions to avoid underfunding. Learn more
Good infrastructure promotes good commerce. As the nation’s leading automaker and one of the largest manufacturing economies, we need durable, reliable infrastructure to move products and expand commerce. Learn more
I also support expanding education savings accounts for higher education and allowing interest deductions on student loans. Rather than tenured teachers protected from poor performance, I believe in merit pay that incentivizes teachers to excel in preparing our children. Learn more
We need to focus on recruiting qualified teachers and increase funding for training so that children in public schools have the same opportunities as those in private schools. We need to expand options for special education services and insist that Intermediate School Districts make more services available to students, especially those with special needs, and increase the amount of funds that reach our students. The proposed amendment to the Michigan Constitution would reduce the number of years for House and Senate positions combined from 14 years to 12 years, but legislators could serve those 12 years in either the House or the Senate, rather than requiring service in both chambers. I support this initiative because, as in any successful business, continuity and limited turnover of personnel is essential in maintaining efficiencies of operation. Learn more
Additionally, I support legislation that would prohibit private money funding of elections. No special interest, whether it is Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, or anyone else, should be funding government-run elections. That is the job of our elected officials, our Secretary of State, and our county and township clerks. Learn more
I support the creation of a Michigan School Safety Board where members of the legislature, law enforcement, and educators have a six-month evaluation period to propose best practices for student and educator safety while preserving the rights of gun owners under the Second Amendment. Learn more
I support the Michigan Senate’s bipartisan proposal back in March of 2022 to suspend the 27-cent gas tax, which Gov Whitmer threatened to veto, and to suspend the 6-percent sales and use taxes on gas purchases. Learn more
We need to look at alternatives to economic incentives in advancing the interests of small businesses. I support cutting taxes, reducing occupational licensing laws that shut out workers from entrepreneurial careers, and support overturning regulations affecting community banks and savings and loans that provide a significant amount of small-business loans in the state. Learn more
I oppose all aspects of increased taxes to finance any Green New Deal legislation. I oppose any “rain tax” legislation on property owners to pay for storm water management (sewer) projects and any attempts to circumvent the vote of the people by labeling any such taxes as “fees.”. Learn more
I support a lower and simpler business tax structure that’s more friendly for small business and will attract more talent, creativity and opportunity from businesses and workforce around the country. Learn more
