Get StartedI believe in a woman’s ability to make her own medical decisions without the government’s involvement. I think that we can reduce the number of abortions in Kansas by expanding access to affordable healthcare and eliminating the sales tax on food so that families have more money in their pockets to care for a child. Children are the future of our state, and I believe we can focus on this principle without government involvement in healthcare decisions. Learn more
STAR bonds and tax incentives are often discussed but seldom explained. I am supportive of using economic development tools that benefit all Kansans, not just a limited number of business owners. I oppose using economic development tools as weapons to raid corporations on one side of the Kansas City state line to lure them to the other. Learn more
I oppose bills that bully and undermine teachers and impede them from doing their job I support restoring tenure and due process to teachers. Learn more
We need a legislature that fully supports teachers. Kansas should offer incentives to attract and retain teachers, including assistance with student loans in exchange for a commitment to teach in Kansas for a certain number of years. We need to stop passing or proposing laws that undermine our trust in teachers, and allow them to do their jobs education our children. Salaries should be competitive with surrounding states. I oppose school vouchers. Learn more
Fully funded schools are essential to the development of the children of Kansas. It is the Legislature's responsibility to make sure that all areas of education, including special education, school safety, and technology, have enough funding to propel our children into the future. Additional funding to pay teachers will make our state competitive so that quality educators teach at Kansas public schools. Learn more
Medicaid Expansion Our citizens deserve quality, affordable healthcare. This means that the legislature finally needs to expand Medicaid. Kansans already pay for Medicaid through federal taxes. Learn more
I support the concept of affordable housing. I’ve been involved with community housing in Wyandotte County and am the former director of Kansas City, Kansas housing authority. We need affordable housing in our district, and we also need to bring in individuals who can pay rent on their homes, and those who can help spread evenly the tax burden among all our citizens. I believe in eliminating the sales tax on food in Kansas. Food is a necessity, and families should not have to work multiple jobs just to put food on the table. Governor Kelly has done a great job starting this process, but we need to accelerate it so that more money gets in the pockets of our families and children. Learn more
We should structure our taxes in a way that allows for upward economic mobility. We should, at all costs, prevent raising taxes on middle and lower income Kansans. More disposable income for families will also boost the economy of businesses in Kansas. We have done well in recovering from Brownback’s disastrous tax experiment, and we need to keep moving in the right direction. Learn more
I strongly support the right for workers to unionize, and have been endorsed by multiple unions. All hardworking Kansans deserve safe conditions and a fair, living wage, including a prevailing wage on all public projects. We need strong union support in the Kansas legislature. Learn more
