Get StartedWe have come a long way towards LGBT equality in just the past decade. However, there is more work that needs to be done. We must strive to end discrimination in all forms. More needs to be done to end bullying and reduce teen suicides, especially among LGBT youth. We must reduce the disproportionate rate of violence against members of the LGBT community. Learn more
America’s prison population has quadrupled since 1980. Today, 60 percent of the 2.2 million Americans in prison are minorities. When it comes to both enforcement of our laws and to sentencing, there is increasing evidence that minorities do not have the same access to justice as others. We need to end mandatory minimum sentences and to give judges more flexibility in sentencing. We also need to help address drug abuse from a medical perspective rather than a criminal one. Learn more
I believe it is our moral and ethical obligation to assist our Minnesota Military Department, its members, and their families where we can. There is absolutely no reason that a veteran should be homeless, unemployed and lacking in the training needed to re-integrate back into society. The VA system has failed our veterans and it is up to us to step up and take the lead. Learn more
I will work to create the business climate we need to attract and keep long-lasting jobs in Roseville. Small businesses are the life blood of our country. We need to encourage the entrepreneurial spirit, for people to start businesses that will grow and prosper. I will also fight for new job training programs that help our workforce adapt with our changing economy and for enhanced trades-focused educational opportunities for kids who choose not to pursue college. Children are the future of our state. A strong, well-funded public education system is very important to all Minnesotans and will assist us in the long-term growth of our economy. We need to make sure the decisions in our public schools come down the parents and the local school boards. Every child in Minnesota deserves the best education available for them. The parents should have the choice as to what is best for their children. We’re spending $11,464.00 per child per year on education in Minnesota. Are they receiving the best education possible?. I am a member of the NRA and I strongly believe in the 2nd Amendment and its constitutional guarantee for Americans right to keep and bear arms. I will fight to protect our rights, and stand against unconstitutional red flag laws that violate due process. Learn more
Healthcare cannot be micromanaged at the national level. Healthcare freedom is the only answer to address increasingly high costs, narrowing access, and diminishing quality of care. Simply mandating that everyone have an insurance policy will not guarantee everyone quality health care and it is the wrong approach. Learn more
All Minnesotan’s, of any age and income level and in every part of the State, should have the opportunity to live in safe, decent and affordable housing. In recent decades, home prices and rental rates have increased faster than income, increasing the need for affordable housing. Affordable housing is out of reach for too many I understand the pressure state and local regulations put on the cost of housing. Affordable housing is a high priority concern for me and I am committed to providing safe, healthy affordable housing using sustainable methods to those in need. Learn more
Like most Americans I come from a family of immigrants. My family immigrated from Germany and Norway but they worked hard, played by the rules and gave my family the kind of opportunity that only America provides. A strong country has strong borders, pure and simple. Without borders, we don't have a nation. I believe the safety of Americans depends upon strengthening our borders and not having sanctuary laws. We overspend on projects which have low usage and low returns across the state. Minnesota deserves roads, highways, and bridges that are uncongested and drivable. It is vital for Minnesota to strengthen its infrastructure in order to keep up with the growing demands. It’s an indispensable and foundational public good. I will work with state and local officials to ensure we receive the funding we need for important transportation improvements. Learn more
Raising taxes is an easy way out for politicians who do not have the stomach or the backbone to cut spending. I am not afraid to make the tough decisions necessary to make our city leaner and meaner, and able to live within its means. I will not support ‘tax and spend’ policies and budgets that mortgage our children’s future. Learn more
