We need to allocate dollars to where we know we can improve educational attainment, including dropout engagement. Learn more
If we want to prepare our students for success in post-secondary education or a successful career pathway, we need to take a hard look at where we are doing well and where we can improve and then take action. Learn more
I support robust educational funding, but as a business owner and leader, I also believe in results. I would never advocate for cutting education funding, but I believe we need to examine where we are spending those billions in taxpayer dollars and the outcomes we’re achieving. Learn more
It is critical that we spend more on kids than administrators. Over the years, we’ve seen administrative ranks grow without any corresponding increase in student achievement. Learn more
School choice and Career and Technical Education should be an option for every parent and student. Learn more
If student achievement is low in a school district, immediate action must be taken to ensure that parents, teachers and students have the tools and resources to be successful. Learn more
Residents want elected leaders to start where they have agreement and can see a real difference – addressing forest health, for example. Spending on meaningful programs like managed thinning and fire breaks and partnering with communities for programs that assist more homeowners with wildfire mitigation work is critical. Learn more
We must address transportation infrastructure to move people efficiently through our most congested areas. Transit isn’t the sole answer because of its siting limitations. Still, it is one of many solutions, like opening up HOV lanes during peak traffic times, lowering the HOT lane tolls to get people moving, and improving public safety so more people feel comfortable taking mass transit and/or riding their bikes to work. When it comes to spending on environmental issues, the public expects results—not politics—from their elected leaders, state agencies, and the many local entities. I support the efforts to meet and exceed carbon reduction goals, but we need a commonsense approach to goalsetting so we can measure our results and change strategies as we go. Learn more
