Get StartedEvery person should have the right to make their own healthcare decisions. Access to comprehensive reproductive healthcare, including authorized and safe legal abortion services, is essential for women to have control over their own bodies and futures. Sherman is committed to protecting this fundamental right and ensuring that women in Texas have access to the care they need without facing unnecessary barriers or restrictions. These are distressing decisions; they’re moral decisions, sometimes requiring a woman to decide if she will risk her life for a pregnancy. Abortion is a very serious pronouncement and each decision depends on circumstances. Sherman is not pro-abortion, but pro-choice. As senator, Sherman will support the Women’s Health Protection Act of 2023, a bill aimed at protecting the choices and freedom of patients and their doctors. Learn more

Education serves as the great equalizer in our society. Sherman is committed to supporting the foundation of our education system, our great public schools. As the product, and proud parent of five children who attended public schools, Sherman will continue to advocate for increased funding, improved resources for teachers, and equitable access to quality education for students in every corner of Texas. He believes educators need to be supported, empowered, and paid, in order to recruit and retain our state’s best teachers. That support begins first with improving the wages and benefits of those teachers on the frontline of the public school system to be commensurate with the profession. From rural kindergarteners to urban high schoolers, Sherman will prioritize student well-being, and foster an inclusive learning environment that sets every child up for success, regardless of their background or zip code. He supports comprehensive background checks, closing loopholes in existing laws, and implementing measures to keep firearms out of the hands of those who pose a threat to themselves and public safety. As the junior senator from Texas, Sherman will remain dedicated to working with both sides of the aisle to find effective solutions that prioritize the safety of all Texans. Learn more
