Get StartedAs a judge and lawyer, I’ve always focused on how we achieve accountability and justice, as well as ending cycles of addiction, harm and unlawful behavior. I will bring this focus to the Council where I will adopt a multi-prong approach to public safety: hiring additional highly-trained officers to improve response times, creating a well-resourced alternative civilian responder program, and continuing successful therapeutic city court programs. Immediately, I will work to upscale and expand violence interruption programs throughout the city and, critically, invest in the antidotes to the social determinants of gun violence: education, job training and skills, counseling, and increased social connections. Learn more
We now have the opportunity through the revision of the Seattle Comprehensive Plan to design the shape of our city for years to come. Alternatives 2, 3, 4, and 5 (Alternative 1 is to do nothing) in the Plan all have elements that can contribute to increasing affordable housing. District 5, however, includes areas with high risk of housing displacement, including Lake City, Bitter Lake, and Northgate. With this in mind, I will look to support the Alternative that most successfully increases the spectrum of affordable housing citywide. Learn more
I will advocate for an on-demand mental health Crisis Care Center in Seattle regardless of the outcome of the Behavioral Health Levy. And, I will support any effort to create on-demand substance use treatment for methamphetamine and alcohol use as well as opioid use. Learn more
