Get StartedThe opioid crisis has plagued every city across America. Unfortunately, there are not enough doctors in Congress that know how to provide the best path forward for recovering from this crisis. I argue to create a special select committee to deal with this crisis in a bipartisan manner, to solve this crisis with a robust patient-driven system that focuses on the longevity of success. Furthermore, I will work with any President to direct the DEA and ATF to combat the illegal moving of Chinese-made fentanyl from coming onshore and onto America’s streets. Learn more
People should not be penalized for smoking marijuana if they do so in a responsible and mature way. When it comes to the recreational or medical use of cannabis products, I believe that we need to legislate, regulate, and educate. We need to see marijuana users just like we see alcohol drinkers. Now is the time to remove marijuana from the Federal Schedule 1 Class of narcotics. When we criminalize a behavior, it doesn’t put an end to it, it forces it underground and fosters organized crime. Even more so, marijuana laws have historically been used to target marginalized groups without probable cause. Additionally, dispensaries often are a cash business because their money is not federally recognized - enabling them to be victimized by organized crime and gang activity. If elected, I am committed to joining the Cannabis Caucus like my predecessors on day one. Sustainable government starts with increasing the autonomy of every individual and reducing opportunities for abuse. Learn more
Maintaining Colorado’s competitive edge in science, space, and technology requires a comprehensive and fundamental change in our approach to the education system. As someone who graduated medical school, I can tell you Congress needs to do better. The bureaucratization of our schools has stymied the best and brightest from rising to the top by favoring tenured teachers and one-size-fits-all approaches to the determinant of our students. We need to ensure that our children are entering higher education with their best foot forward. Learn more
Higher learning is becoming prohibitively expensive. The cost has risen far above inflation and is robbing our young people of their future. The reasons for the excessive costs are two fold, demand for a higher education and tax funded student loans. Institutions need to share some accountability instead of over-inflating federal student loans to fund projects that have little to do with educating college students. Debt forgiveness is not going to fix this ongoing challenge. We need effective and sustainable government policy to confront academic institutions that make poor financial decisions and raise costs to dig themselves out of a hole. We need to win the future starting today with Dr. Charlie Winn’s platform. Learn more
Education is necessary for a society governed by its people. It is also necessary for economic growth. Learn more
We must protect the environment, while understanding Coloradans have a responsibility to provide energy and other resources, to the world. In doing so, we need to make sure that American energy keeps the environment safe and clean. I am not a doomsday climate activist, I am a doctor. Realistically, I recognize that a robust energy economy requires a federal, state, and local commitment to keeping America energy independent and lowering our environmental impact. A sustainable environmental policy requires a sustainable government to ensure that we fund projects that generate jobs, keep our environment clean, and don’t waste your taxpayer dollars. This is what winning in the future is all about - smart energy choices. Learn more
We have to avoid poorly thought out ideas and focus on science-based solutions. A comprehensive plan on climate change starts on the local level that comes from a place of treating the environment as our most precious resource, and preserving it through sound conservation and stewardship. Colorado is in a place where we can take leadership on authoring an American solution to a global problem. We have scientists, natural resources, and an economy built to tackle problems using brain over brawn, evidence over narrative and data over rhetoric. Climate change requires generating individual action to think smarter, not harder, about our planet’s future. Learn more
Mental health issues have unfortunately come to the forefront of American policy issues due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but this has unfortunately also been a problem with America’s veteran community. 100% mental health coverage is needed to cover our veterans, no matter what the treatment is, to ensure a quality of life and show respect for their service to us and our country. Depression has skyrocketed due to the mass quarantine, joblessness, and homelessness. A robust healthcare system prioritizing mental health issues in the immediate future is required to bring about the next era of good feelings in the United States. In order to address mental illness, we need to fix problems with healthcare. We need Doctors who have policy implementation experience. We need Dr. Winn. Learn more
Insurance companies have been attacked by idealists who propose flawed concepts such as Medicare for All. What politicians should be doing to reform the insurance system is to make adjustments, such as tort reform, to allow for insurance companies to compete for the best coverage at the lowest price. Obamacare (ACA) made it a mandate for every person and small business to have the same health plan or face a fine. That policy program just made premiums skyrocket by forcing another one-size-fits-all plan on the public. The only thing universal about that healthcare plan was its disastrous effects on America’s healthcare system. We need more Doctors in DC to make medical insurance policy. We need to elect Dr. Charlie Winn for Congress. Learn more
Congressman Neguse has proposed and acquiesced on so many grandiose plans like Medicare-for-All, that he’s become a partisan fixture. But he is failing to back his positions and proposals with evidence- succumbing to the pressures of Washington, DC in less than two shorts years. Medicare-for-All would destroy the private sector already on the brink from Covid-19, costing hundreds of thousands of jobs across the nation, raise taxes, and worse would lead to the rationing of care. In function, Medicare-for-All is not analogous to pay models in the EU, but would actually be Medi-CAID-for-All. No Democrat or Republican wants this. Anyone who receives a paycheck knows Medicare is not free. It only covers hospital care, not outpatient care or medications, and there are large deductibles. Even so, the current Medicare system is unsustainable unless we address it. Learn more
He knows we can take much better care of the health of the American people at a lower cost. Medicare-for-All is not fiscally sustainable and doesn’t address the reasons why high quality affordable care is lacking. Learn more
The way we beat back COVID-19 economically is by sponsoring infrastructure investment programs like we did in the past by bringing jobs to every community and rebuilding roads, dams, canals and bridges. This keeps Colorado tourism alive, protects Colorado drivers, and will ensure the Colorado economy flourishes. It will also help us transport all those aerospace components and agricultural products out of our district to consumers. Washington needs to come together to pass bills that benefit every state and district, not just the ones that serve to kickback labor unions with no-bid contracts building bridges to nowhere. The process must be data-driven. We have a winning economy when taxpayer dollars are used as investments. Learn more
