Get StartedEach abortion is a tragedy. In order to reduce abortions, I strongly support access to health care, family planning, and education. I respect individuals’ agency to make their own choices in family planning with the united goal of reducing abortions and strengthening families. As an adoptive mother and former foster parent, I know the heartache of the kids placed in these state run systems. I will be a strong advocate in the Legislature for wise improvements to this broken system so that these struggling children get the homes and placements they deserve and nothing less. Learn more
Utah has a long history in supporting the arts, humanities, and culture. I support policies and funding levels that increase access and exposure to the Arts and add to opportunities for their expansion. Learn more
I support the Black Lives Matter movement. Too often I learn of unfair practices and targeting that ends in shooting unarmed men. I am deeply affected and saddened by this unnecessary violence. I want every city and county in the country to have their police departments work towards de-escalation training, diversity training, diversity in hiring practices, body cam footage legislation, and transparency. I’m “woke” to this and I hope you are as well. Learn more
A criminal justice system should focus on fair practices rather than vengeance. Nonviolent offenders shouldn’t be sent to prison for decades with no chance of sentence reduction. Punitive practices should include an option for drug use rehabilitative efforts, education and job skill options for a higher lasting rehabilitation rate. I will work on and vote for these improvements. Learn more
As a single senior, I have adopted two little girls who were highly impacted and lost their parents because of parental drug addiction. I believe in common sense approaches to combating substance abuse and addiction, particularly with regard to the opioid epidemic. Many can benefit from drug rehab programs, and sometimes incarceration for criminal behavior associated with it for short periods of time to overcome the addiction are answers to family prayers and not punishment. Often it is actually the kindest answer and saves the life of an addict if they are held a year or so if they don’t or won’t stick to a good rehabilitation program. After 6 months to a year of being clean, they often can and do seek help and are successful. We must address all the causes and work on the many solutions to help support our families in crisis. Addiction in its many forms represents a tragic loss of agency and can devastate individuals as well as whole families. Learn more
Working creates a sense of value, accomplishment, and gratitude. Contributing to society through our labors is essential to our development as citizens. I support policies that foster the creation of jobs, a living wage, and equal pay for equal qualifications without bias for race or gender. Utah is at the very bottom of all the states with the largest pay gap for women doing equal work. I will work on and vote for to make improvements. Learn more
We need to pay our teachers more to retain them and attract the very best! We need to provide better support to help reduce class sizes so they can teach effectively. Good education strengthens families and is the means of economic security and stability. I will work on and vote for greater education system K-12 funding. Learn more
Utah has a homeschool registration requirement, but no oversight regulations. It has become common that parents remove children from public schools in efforts to hide child neglect or abuse. Appropriate regulations will endure that children are protected and keep up with learning at their grade levels. I have been in the process of writing a bill that will provide needed regulations, and will be self-funded. Learn more
As sacred stewards of the earth, we need to encourage efforts to recycle, use energy wisely, and create a cleaner world out of respect for the earth, God, and our children. Our public land-use policy should reflect that moral imperative. I will work on and vote for these improvements. Learn more
We can be developing clean, efficient energy sources and we should provide individual and corporate tax incentives to do so. We should not allow lobbyists to determine at what delayed time Utah will implement clean energy initiatives as they do now. I support policies that push new technology and energy standards that ensure our children will have clean air and water and that our natural environment will be preserved. I will work on and vote for these improvements. Learn more
We need greater citizen involvement in our government processes today to ensure that the voices of the people are heard over the money of paid to other types of lobbyists, unions, and coalitions, both in Utah and in Washington, DC, as well as at our other state capitals across the country. I invite you to become a citizen lobbyist, please contact me for more details. You can become highly effective and a powerful force improving upon the various challenges we share in Utah and the rest of our country. Learn more
The Constitutional right to bear arms is compatible with sensible gun safety reform. Supporting sensible reform will protect lives and allow for safe use of guns for recreational purposes. I plan to write a bill to prohibit the sales of semi-automatic rapid-fire assault rifles and the high-capacity magazine ammunition they use. Learn more
Health care is a moral obligation. Caring for the sick and afflicted is a key part of a productive and compassionate society. Improved health care reform is part of that responsibility. I will work on and vote for these improvements. Learn more
We are a nation of immigrants (except for our honored native Americans). I welcome immigrants and refugees with public policies that support their human rights, paths to citizenship, educational opportunities, economic stability, and family development. I will work on support and vote for to ways to help and make improvements. Learn more
Immigration is the reason that America has become a great nation. Compassionate reform that keeps families together, protects the American economy and creates a simple path for legal residence is necessary to sustain our American dream. I will work on and vote for these improvements. Learn more
We need more long-term planning to budget for current and future growth needs to build and maintain our national and local streets, bridges and government buildings. Due to short-term thinking, we are behind and must invest much more now to meet current needs to bring our infrastructure up to current safety & quality standards. Learn more
It is NOT acceptable to me that our current congress and senate passed the tax reduction law to lower the tax rates for the wealthy while increasing our deficit by 1.5 trillion dollars that our poor must eventually pay. Learn more
We must learn to live within our budgets when we increase expenses, we must also increase income to pay for them. Bills must also include methods to cover expenditures. As a financial advisor and analyst, I will evaluate and research and work on and vote for bills that make financial sense. Learn more
Paid maternity and paternity leave is truly a pro-family policy. The parent-child relationship is most tender and impaction in the first few years of a child’s life. Families, employers, and economies suffer when families cannot afford to take time off from work. I will work on and vote for these improvements. Learn more
