We must ensure adequate pay raises for active duty military by using the Employment Cost Index, published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. We must address the alarming suicide rate among both those on active duty and veterans by creating a Congressional Suicide Prevention Commission to study the issue and develop strategies to prevent these deaths. We must create opportunities to improve access for dependents to receive healthcare by making it easier for them to seek care off-base. We must work on the problem of sexual assault within the military by appointing attorneys to provide legal assistance to victims and Sexual Assault Response coordinators as they work through military and legal processes after these assaults.
