Responsible identification of every user on Twitter (American users and those users who enter U.S. boundaries within the internet) would be for Twitter to set up brick and mortar locations across the country where American citizens, and perhaps others, who want to use the social media site would need to visit to register as a Twitter user providing two forms of ID proving citizenship or right to be in the country. Twitter’s in-person customer service representatives would then verify the information manually. At the beginning and end of each transaction the customer service representative, not the user, would use their own electronic thumbprint serving as proof that they verified the user’s ID and that the person is, in fact, who they claim to be and that it matches their Twitter user profile. Congress should make it mandatory to stop human trafficking, bullying, fraud, etc. on social media sites rather than turn a blind-eye to it. One of the best ways to do that is to authenticate every user. Learn more
