The voucher system at the very least needs a major overhaul. It’s effects on the small rural districts of the 41st at times have been nothing less than crippling. Next, an increase in school funding, both at the state level (especially for small rural districts) and the federal IDEA monies. And finally, the recruitment and retention of quality educators for our kids to be able to learn and grow. Learn more
I am in favor of term limits not only for our federal legislators, but for state legislators as well. Although I don’t see Congress imposing term limits on themselves it could be brought about by the “Convention of States” provided by in Article V of our Constitution. It is understandable that some medical procedures are very expensive, but medical expenses are out of control. Work needs to be done on the regulation of profits for drug companies, coverage of pre-existing conditions and health care coverage for those that can not afford it. Learn more
I believe that the demand for access to mental health is higher than it has ever been. Unfortunately, I also believe that the number of qualified mental health workers needed does not exist. I would support a “task force” to review the problem and the fiscal commitment to take action on their recommendations. Learn more
I am in agreement that Wisconsin winters and the lack of highway funds has caused many of our roads to fall into disrepair. Although I am in agreement of their condition, I need more information in order to be able to promote a systemic change in the allocation of resources used for our state’s infrastructure. Learn more
