Get StartedContrary to conventional wisdom, we do not need more jobs, we need better jobs. We hear the economy is booming because there are a lot of jobs–but that’s because people have two or three of them. In America, anyone who works 40 hours a week should be able to live a dignified life. That’s why I’m a proponent of a $15 dollar minimum wage–the absolute minimum wage that accounts for the stagnation in wages that has plagued American workers for the last 40 years. Wages need to increase with the price of inflation, and it’s the federal government’s job to ensure that. Learn more
Education is the foundation for a better life and a better future for our country. Public money should go to public education and our young people should not be saddled with tens of thousands of dollars of essentially unpayable debt in their formative years. In Congress, I will lead the fight for a robust investment in public education at every level. Learn more
In SWFL our environment is not only the economy, it’s a reflection of our health and quality of life. We must clean and protect our waterways and prevent the pollution of our estuaries for profit. Big industries like sugar are polluting without accountability and it’s the people who are paying with their health, their businesses, and their wellbeing. We only get one chance to protect our planet, we must not waste it. Learn more
The current healthcare and economic crises that rack our nation are an immediate threat to working people and families all across the US. In order to keep the backbone of America afloat, we must give people immediate cash payments, suspend evictions and utility shutoffs, and cancel student loan payments for the time being. A full stimulus package that focuses on people, not corporations, must be prioritized in the house. If a business receives a bailout, they must be barred from ever participating in stock buy-back practices and commit to a living wage for their employees in a fair timeline. Learn more
Healthcare is a human right. In the richest country in the world, no one should have to file for bankruptcy or ration their medicine so they can survive. Our campaign believes in affordable healthcare for all and we believe that getting there requires we strengthen the ACA until we can ensure everyone has access to affordable, quality, and effective healthcare. All around SWFL, families are crushed by soaring housing and rent prices. To make matters worse, our local development unabashedly favores developers over communities. Against the will of the people, local politicians are stealing homes and land away from hard working families in order to line the pockets of already rich developers. The federal government has the ability, and when I’m in office, will have the will, to regulate overdevelopment and to provide affordable housing options for every member of our community. Learn more
This administration continues to attack social security and medicare–proposing to cut billions from these programs year after year. Hard working Americans pay into these programs over their entire lives and it’s a Representative’s duty to ensure your investment is secure. We cannot afford to increase the age for recipients of social security, and we cannot afford to raid medicare. Learn more
