Get StartedOnce I am elected to the New Hanover County Board of Education, I will make the acquisition of land for potential new schools part of the strategic plan and instruct the Superintendent’s Office to begin work in this area of school planning. Learn more
Some will argue that our school district should nonetheless take advantage of all the state and federal grant programs it can. They would argue that the taxpayer dollars have already been allocated, and that if our school district doesn’t take advantage of these grants then others will. I recognize that our school district still has to operate within the skewed funding schemes of our state and federal governments. If there are state and federal grants that are truly going to make a positive impact on the education of our students, then we should take advantage of those grants. However, I believe we need to stray away from applying for grants for unnecessary initiatives, that often have a lot of strings attached to them, and will force our school district to wrongfully change school policy just to keep the grant money rolling in. Finally, while there are some school sports activities that can safely be co-ed, I support athletic teams composed of biological girls only. Not only would allowing biological males on these teams be unfair to the biological females who are participating, it would also be dangerous. There are many examples of female high school athletes who have been severely injured when they are forced to participate in sports with biologically male students. I support the board’s current restrictions against transgender participation in middle school athletics and would extend those restrictions to our high school athletic programs. Learn more
In addition to the construction of a new school building, we also need to plan on how we are going to furnish the school with all the furniture, technology, and learning materials that it needs. Also, the school district will have to formulate redistricting plans to determine which neighborhood school certain students will be expected to attend. Finally, we have to staff the new school with teachers, administrators, and staff that can do the job. Learn more
Once I am elected to the New Hanover County Board of Education, I will weed CRT completely out of our school district. Our students are here to learn and grow, and not to be manipulated as pawns in a socialist plan for upheaval. Learn more
We need individualized education without political indoctrination. Once elected, I’ll set course on policy so our kids will exceed the standard and graduate knowing how to read, write and think critically. Learn more
Once I am elected to the New Hanover County Board of Education, I vow to set policy that gives the school board much more oversight and authority over the types of grant programs that our school district participates in. Learn more
There will be meetings that have the sole purpose of discussing a confidential student or employee matter, and those videos should only be released to the school board itself. There will be other meetings where a student or employee is mentioned as part of an overall discussion on policy. Those videos should be redacted of this confidential information and then released to the public. Once I am elected to the New Hanover County Board of Education, I will work hard to formulate a transparency plan for our schools that still respects the confidentiality of its employees and students. As outlined in my plan for Individualized Education, the easiest and best way to assess teacher and staff performance is to evaluate how well the students they are responsible for did in achieving their individualized educational goals. Their performance, when measured in this manner, should dictate how much of a pay increase is warranted. Once I am elected to the New Hanover County Board of Education, I will push the school board to adopt generous pay performance incentives for teachers and staff that are truly performing well.
