EDUCATION There is no greater asset to Coloradans than our children. We must assure every child receives a quality education by continuing to expand school choice and charter school opportunities. No child should be trapped in a faltering school simply because his or her parents do not have the financial means to move them to a better one. We can’t talk about education without addressing the issue of school safety. We must act now to insure our children are safe. There are approaches that will keep children safe without trampling on the Second Amendment. I have written extensively on the subject and have spent my entire life protecting others and teaching them how to protect themselves. I look forward to sharing my experience as we implement real solutions for our kids and their safety. ON THE ISSUES "I want to work for you. We need to create more jobs, lower taxes and regulations, improve our schools, and protect our water." AGRICULTURE-WATER The second to the last tenet of my Code of the West (which you can read on this website) states: “A cowboy will go out of his way to avoid a fight and is always willing to share his grub, campfire, and water.” What my Code does not spell out is, “But do not ever try to take away any of those things from a cowboy.” I have a ranch, and at the start of a drought here in southern Colorado, a neighbor with senior water rights, cut off the water in the stream running to my property. I ended up selling my herd of red and black Angus cattle. Do you think I understand the tremendous import of protecting the water rights of southern Colorado? I am passionate about this issue and will fight for our water.
