Get StartedThere is no doubt that the citizens of District 5 have a long and proud history of hard work. Our region’s economy was largely built on generations of men and women turning Idaho’s natural bounty into an honest living through industries like agriculture and timber. Today, we can build on our strong history to strengthen our economy going forward by harnessing new technologies and welcoming new industries to District 5. Idaho should invest in creating jobs in traditional areas like agriculture, mining, timber, and manufacturing, while creating new opportunities in sectors like technology, clean energy, and tourism. According to the Constitution of the State of Idaho, the state legislature is responsible for establishing and maintaining a “general, uniform, and thorough system” of free public schools. Over time, however, we’ve seen this burden shift from the state to local communities, which must then turn to residents for supplemental levies and bonds. Whether it’s cross-country skiing under blue skies at Palouse Divide or practicing a cast on the St. Joe River, citizens of District 5 love the great outdoors. Access to these uniquely inspiring and restorative landscapes is one very important reason to love living in north Idaho and I am committed to ensuring the responsible stewardship of these resources so they can be enjoyed by generations to come. Idaho must commit to maintaining the health of our environment and keeping public lands in public hands to support the industries and activities that allow us all to thrive. Learn more
