Get StartedA woman’s healthcare decisions should be between only the woman and their healthcare providers. Learn more
I fully support a woman's right to choose. Planned Parenthood and the important services they provide across Virginia must be protected. Learn more
It is past time for Virginia to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment. Learn more
Fulfill the Commonwealth’s constitutional responsibility to adequately fund K through 12 education. Learn more
Push for teacher pay increases while also working to reduce the problems that overcrowding in classrooms can cause. Learn more
Increase the availability and affordability of early childhood education opportunities. Learn more
As a product of public schools and a mother of public school students, I know that Virginia’s standardized testing system needs to be fixed; therefore I will support recent efforts to reform SOL testing so that teachers do not have to teach to the test. Learn more
Prioritize funding for STEM programs across Virginia. Learn more
Virginia should be a leader in clean energy and being such a leader does not mean building pipelines or drilling off the coast of Virginia. As your State Senator I will oppose both of these actions. Learn more
Chesterfield County has one of the nation's largest coal ash storage sites. Cleaning up these sites, which are a threat to the environment and our citizens’ health, while simultaneously not passing costs down to working families, needs to be a major legislative priority. Learn more
The decision to protect Virginia’s environment is not a hard one, but it is one that is made more difficult because of the outsized influence that our state-regulated energy monopoly has in our elections. As your Senator I will not take campaign contributions from any state regulated utility. Learn more
The time has come to bring integrity back to our elections by passing meaningful campaign finance reform in Virginia. We can do this by setting contribution limits for individuals and preventing corporations from giving directly to candidates or through PACs. Learn more
I will not be accepting any contributions from any of our state regulated public utilities, their executives and their Political Action Committees. If we, as voters, want our elected leaders to fight for the issues important to working families, we need to make it easier for members of working families to run for office. Learn more
We can start by passing policies that have bipartisan support like universal background checks. The banning of bump stocks and requiring firearm owners to report a stolen gun to law enforcement are also common sense measures the majority of Virginians support. I promise to support these common sense proposals to keep our communities safe. The gun lobby, specifically the NRA, has confused gun ownership rights with gun safety to win political points. The safety of our children and families is my priority; therefore, I will never accept money from the NRA and I look forward to earning their F rating. Learn more
Virginia took a huge step forward in expanding access to healthcare when we enacted our Medicaid Expansion legislation in 2018 which gave 400,000 people access to healthcare they previously lacked. We need to continue to look for ways to cover more individuals while also saving taxpayers money in the long run. Learn more
The average cost of healthcare for a family of four in Virginia is between $14,000-16,000 a year. Such cost is simply too high for most working families, and we would all benefit from more money in our pockets which could be used to support our local economy. Learn more
As your State Senator, I would act aggressively to lower the cost of prescription drugs, the number one driver of healthcare cost increases. Learn more
I would also work to ensure increased access to mental health treatment, substance abuse treatment, and make sure people with pre-existing conditions are covered. Learn more
Paid family leave would help many Virginians balance the demands of family with their work responsibilities. Virginia has a chance to lead by example on this issue by enacting legislation on the state level in 2020. Learn more
