Support focused deterrence. Most violent crime happens in small areas and is conducted by a very small number of people. We will support a focused deterrence model that identifies those individuals most at risk to commit violent crime, sets clear expectations, offers opportunities before people commit crimes, and ensures that those who still participate in violence are prosecuted. Focused deterrence must be paired with community outreach, poverty reduction, and the other strategies below to be truly effective. Prosecutions only happen after violence has occurred. Our goal must be to prevent violence. Learn more
Advocate for expanded spousal reciprocity offerings in Missouri. Military families are often on the move and make so many sacrifices for our country. Military spouses who work in state-licensed jobs should not have to give up their careers every time they move out of state. We will work with national networks and Missouri government to expand opportunities for military spouses to continue their careers in our state. Learn more
As Attorney General, I will ensure that our state meets its constitutional responsibilities, protects the safety of Missouri residents from corporations trying to exploit our state, and ends the wasteful war on marijuana. Learn more
Enforce antitrust law against corporations illegally rigging our markets. Today, we have few true monopolies exhibiting anticompetitive behavior on their own. Instead, we have highly concentrated marketplaces where a few major players effectively control the entire market. We will monitor corporate coordination for schemes designed to eliminate competition or exploit Missourians, and we will enforce antitrust law. Learn more
Support American manufacturing. Domestic manufacturing provides good paying jobs, improves our economy, and is essential for our national security. Our office will set an example for our state government by procuring supplies and services from domestic companies. Learn more
We will prohibit discrimination in education. The Civil Rights Division will protect unhoused children and ensure they can continue attending their schools under the McKinney-Vento Act. The Division will also protect children with disabilities under the Missouri Human Rights Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act. Learn more
We are seeing an increase in the number of out-of-state corporate landlords moving into Missouri and taking advantage of lax housing enforcement. Bad landlords hurt their residents, bring down housing standards in their neighborhoods, and make it very difficult for good landlords to compete and stay in business. In conjunction with the Consumer Protection Division, we will hold landlords accountable to maintain habitable residences for tenants, and we will enforce non-discrimination laws already on the books. We will also enforce the law against predatory scams in housing. Having worked on hundreds of cases with renters, landlords, owners, and lenders, I know how important it is for Missourians to have access to safe, affordable housing. I fully support a housing-first model of poverty alleviation. Learn more
Collective bargaining provides workers with an important tool to negotiate for fair wages, hours, and benefits, especially with powerful employers. We will work with federal officials to ensure employers do not interfere with workers' rights to unionize. Learn more
