Get StartedAs a grandmother of an adopted child I value life, but I am a firm believer that women’s reproductive and healthcare rights must be protected at all costs. I believe that a woman’s healthcare decisions are a private matter and that treatment should be totally confidential between herself and family (when necessary) and her physician. I believe that all medical discussions between the patient and physician should be private and protected by law. Learn more
It’s been seven years since I attended a rally in support of the protection of women’s reproductive and healthcare rights. In 2022 the people of Kansas loudly and clearly expressed their support to protect women's healthcare. We should be moving forward to ensure that these rights are defended and maintained rather than squandering time and resources with bills that penalize healthcare providers. Learn more
I believe that teaching certifications and requirements should be standardized over all venues of education - public, private, and home schooling. Funding schools should continue to be a priority, especially for special education, and raising the standards of our education system are critical to our remaining competitive in today’s local and global markets. The necessity for guns has evolved over time and personal use and collection are no longer limited to hobbyists or hunters. Currently, safety standards are created and enforced on everything from securing a baby car seat to working on heavy equipment. Why wouldn’t we want to do the same on items that are designed to have the power to not only protect, but to kill? I believe that it's time to take collaborative strides to develop responsible and accountable gun legislation to protect children, and reduce instances of suicide and gun violence. I am proud to have been awarded the 2024 Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate distinction as a candidate that will advocate for gun violence prevention and will advocate, when elected, with gun safety in mind. Having experienced the loss of a brother-in-law to suicide, I know the importance of proper diagnosis and having access to mental health clinicians and treatment service providers. Learn more
I believe that the expansion of Medicaid should not be a political issue. When people don’t receive preventative and managed healthcare their health issues will continue to grow. Resulting adverse effects may further reduce quality of life and may require additional treatments that possibly could have been avoided. Generally the costs of services incurred by uninsured patients is absorbed and passed onto everyone. Monies received from Medicaid coverage will reduce the overall cost of healthcare for all.
