The bill requires private insurers to cover comprehensive reproductive health care, greatly expanding Oregonians’ access to such services, regardless of socioeconomic or citizenship status. Ellen supports and advocates loosening sentencing rules for juveniles. Most recently, in May 2019, Ellen advocated Senate Bill 1008, which gave more discretion to judges in suggesting exceptions to the rule when trying minors. Learn more
In May 2020 Ellen urged the US Congress to grant state AGs more resources and authority to lead “pattern or practice” investigations into unconstitutional or abusive practices in local police departments. Learn more
In April 2019 Ellen filed a suit challenging the Trump administration’s “two-for-one” executive order, which declared that federal agencies must repeal two regulations whenever they propose a new one--a brazen attempt to obstruct our ability to keep polluters in check. Learn more
Ellen is working with state lawmakers to pass common sense gun legislation. Most recently, she pushed for a safe gun storage law, to prevent gun theft and deadly accidents. Learn more
Ellen has stepped up to challenge repeated attacks against the ACA, which has cut Oregon’s uninsured rate in half and helps cover half a million Oregonians. Ellen currently fights with a coalition of 21 other state AGs defending the ACA in the US Supreme Court against a Texas-led attack. Learn more
