Get StartedProtect a woman’s right to choose by repealing legislation that restricts women’s reproductive healthcare and passing the Michigan Reproductive Health Act which, among other things, repeals a 1931 law that bans all abortion in Michigan. Right now, if the conservative majority on the Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade, our state would revert back to existing laws (ie. the 1931 law) unless it is repealed. . Learn more
Improve Veterans healthcare by working with the VA to increase staffing levels at Veterans facilities to reduce wait times, oppose privatization of services which has led to neglect and abuse of veterans in Michigan’s hospitals, and expanding access for veterans to obtain treatment for addiction, counseling, and mental health care. Learn more
End Veteran Homelessness by working collaboratively with the federal government on ways to ensure housing initiatives are tailored to the needs facing Michigan’s homeless veterans. Learn more
Lower class sizes by giving school districts the resources needed to do this and increase more individualized instruction. Learn more
Reduce standardized testing as a means for determining student outcomes and success. Learn more
Fully funding our public schools. According to the adequacy study conducted by the School Finance Research Collaborative, the base cost of educating a student is $9,590 per pupil BEFORE factoring in costs like food service, capital expenses, and pension costs above 4.6% of wages. This means that we are under funding most students in the 21st District by $1,479 per pupil at a base cost. I’ll fight for full funding for our public schools! . Learn more
Enact a weighted funding formula because different students have different needs. For instance, there needs to be additional funding per-pupil for students in poverty, students utilizing special education services, and ELL (English Language Learners) students. Learn more
Fair and equitable funding for Van Buren Public Schools, Plymouth-Canton, and Wayne-Westland Community Schools. Our school funding formula simply doesn’t work for the communities within the 21st District. Right now, neighboring school districts receive several thousand more dollars per pupil in funding which makes it harder for our school districts to offer school staff competitive salaries and limits their ability to expand our schools’ fantastic programs for students. We need to enact common sense reforms to our school funding formula to ensure that the schools in our communities aren’t among the lowest funded in the state! . Learn more
Expand recycling services by passing legislation that expands our state bottle return to all drinks including juice and water. Learn more
Invest in clean, renewable energy to reduce our carbon footprint and create thousands of good-paying union jobs in the process. . Learn more
Require polluters to clean up their messes by enacting “polluter pay” laws which compel the polluter--not taxpayers--to pay for clean up efforts. Learn more
End the dumping of radioactive waste in our community. For years, radioactive fracking waste from out-of-state and Canada which was turned away by other states has been shipped up to the landfill here in Van Buren Township. Our community shouldn’t be a dumping ground for toxic radioactive fracking waste from other areas! . Learn more
Protect our water by addressing PFAS contamination which has impacted Belleville Lake and strengthening drinking water standards. . Learn more
Keep polluters away from writing environmental rules. Right now, corporate polluters that contaminate our water have the ability--through a special board established in 2018-- to override or change rules set by the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality. I will fight back against polluters who want to expand their profits at the expense of the rest of us. Learn more
Pass Red Flag Laws to join 17 other states in allowing family members or law enforcement to petition a judge for an extreme risk protection order (ERPO) to remove guns from individuals who may harm themselves or others. Learn more
Enact Universal Background Checks on gun sales to ensure that dangerous criminals, those convicted of domestic violence, and those who may harm themselves or others aren’t able to obtain a gun through loopholes in the law. Learn more
Create waiting periods because studies have concluded that waiting periods save lives by ensuring that people who are angry at others have time to “cool off” before obtaining a weapon. Learn more
Expanding access to quality, affordable maternal, prenatal, and postpartum health care services. Learn more
Capping co-pays for common drugs like insulin and epi-pens. Learn more
Lower prescription drug costs by cracking down on predatory drug companies that unnecessarily increase cost with tough penalties for price gouging and requirements that these companies justify price increases. . Learn more
Repealing the Drug Immunity Law that makes Michigan the only state in the nation where pharmaceutical companies are immune from prosecution if their drugs hurt consumers. Learn more
Secure the freedom to see a doctor when you get sick by protecting and expanding Healthy Michigan and supporting legislation that covers every Michigander with healthcare. . Learn more
Lower weight limits on trucks so that companies that are doing the most damage to our roads help pay to maintain and repair them. Learn more
Raise standards for material and inspection so we spend our tax dollars wisely and have roads that are built to last. Learn more
Reform the road funding formula so that road funding is allocated based on roads with the most traffic that are in most dire condition instead of the current model which siphons our money to other areas of the state with less traveled roads. Learn more
Raise $2.5 billion in additional revenue with a graduated income tax which would make the wealthy pay their fair share while 92% of Michiganders will get a tax cut or have their taxes stay the same. Learn more
A secure retirement for all Michiganders by repealing the retirement tax and fighting back against attacks on the pensions of police officers, firefighters, and teachers. Learn more about how I will be a voice for seniors by clicking here!. Learn more
A fair tax system that makes millionaires and billionaires pay their fair share and lower taxes for hardworking people trying to get by through expanding the Earned Income Tax Credit, expanding the Child Deduction Tax Credit, and implementing a graduated income tax. Learn more
Provide pathways for high-wage jobs by leveraging the skills and training they learned in the service to fast-track veterans at obtaining certifications, remove barriers for veterans looking to start a business, and encouraging Michigan’s employers--and requiring state agencies and contractors--to be veteran friendly employers. Learn more
Adopt Equal Pay for Equal Work for women because without changes to law, the gender wage gap in Michigan isn’t expected to close until 2084--that is simply unacceptable. We can pass common sense legislation to close the wage gap by prohibiting employers from inquiring about an applicants' pay history, penalizing companies that pay different wages to similarly situated men and women, prohibit employers from penalizing employees who discuss wage information, and require employers provide generic wage information for similarly situated employees. Learn more
Raise the Minimum Wage to a living wage of $15 per hour. Learn more
Reinstate Michigan’s Prevailing Wage Law to ensure our infrastructure is built by well-trained, skilled workers that are paid fairly. Learn more
