I prioritize increasing awareness of suicide as a preventable public health problem using research-informed campaigns to improve the public’s knowledge, behavior, and attitudes surrounding suicide. I will also work to increase Utah’s capacity for gatekeeper trainings to improve individual and community responses to individuals in distress. Learn more
Second, we should implement regulation of pain management clinics by requiring clinics to register with the state or obtain a license or certificate from the state in order to reduce prescribing practices that are risky to patients. Learn more
First, we should mandate clinicians and prescribers to regularly review the Utah Controlled Substance Database Program (CSD) data, which is a state-run database that tracks prescriptions for controlled substances and can help improve opioid pain reliever prescribing, inform clinical practice, and protect patients at risk.
