With gun violence currently being the leading cause of death for children and teens in the US, Jessica knows how important gun safety is. It is also personal, as Jessica has been affected by gun violence twice. In 2010, her friend Stacy Brown was shot and killed during a home invasion. And in 2017, a former student of Jessica’s, Anthony Naiboa, was shot and killed on his way home from his new job, packing supplies for hurricane victims in Puerto Rico. As a teacher, the tragedy at Stoneman Douglas was so difficult, Jessica joined Moms Demand Action, a non-partisan group dedicated to ending gun violence. Learn more
