We must also continue to forge ahead with a consistent, cohesive, and effective stormwater management program to deal with short- and long-term flooding. Sea level rise, increased severity of storms, and water intrusion are no longer debatable matters. This is our new reality and we must address it by responding proactively and responsibly. Learn more
Citizen safety continues to be my foremost priority. I will continue my ongoing advocacy work with GDOT to install a traffic light at Colerain Road and Winding Road, improve safety measures at Exit 1 with new lighting and rotary, and upgrade the three main bridges in the city to eliminate current overtopping during hurricanes. After severe storms, these bridges require state inspection before they can be re-opened for our residents and that can be an unduly long process for exhausted evacuees longing to go home. I will also continue to work personally with GDOT to improve evacuation and re-entry efforts via Borrell Creek Bridge, Dark Creek Entry, and the Point Peter Causeway. Learn more
