Get StartedMental health and addiction services must be made available without compromising people’s rights. Punishment for crimes should be commensurate with the long term consequences to the victim. Police forces need to know the public supports checks and balances limiting their authority while respecting their judgment in situations we, thankfully, avoid as they put their lives on the line for us each and every day. I support a police presence that keeps order in places where people potentially feel threatened. Connecticut needs to provide law abiding officers with the tools to meet the public’s expectations. Restoring qualified immunity so our police force officers who are doing their jobs according to statute and agreed upon best practices are adequately protected is essential. Juvenile offenders must be dealt with swiftly and fairly–not immediately released to inflict the same offenses on other citizens. Learn more
Excessive and ever increasing fees for business owners are a soul crushing reminder that our state does not value them. At the height of the pandemic, the yearly filing fees for small businesses increased 300%. Critical Race Theory (CRT) should not be taught in schools. Parents and the community have the responsibility to ensure school systems educate their children about the values and virtues consistent with becoming responsible citizens. Critical Race Theory is based on legal writings from the 1970’s and was taught in law schools. Critical Race Theory ignores foundational principles of this country and attempts to replace them with a false narrative: Instead of the belief that all men are created equal, it is assumed that some skin colors are endowed with privilege and that those people innately discriminate against those with other skin colors. I support Second Amendment protections guaranteeing law abiding citizens retain their right to keep and bear arms for all lawful purposes, including the ability to defend themselves. Responsible gun ownership is necessary to protect our communities. The State of Connecticut is among the top 10 states with the most restrictive gun laws in the country. Creating more gun laws is not the answer to crime. Better enforcement of existing gun laws, creating better access to mental health facilities, and securing our schools in the same manner we do our government buildings would be a great start.
