Get StartedWe need smaller class sizes, more mental health access for children and families, and to pay our teachers a living wage commensurate with their education, impact, and passion. We must find ways for schools to engage and train students who want to enter the workforce after high school. Unions lead the way in this endeavor by offering job experience during the day and education two nights a week. I’d like to see more high schools incorporate work experience with education. I’m a scientist and believe in the climate crisis. We need to act immediately to counter the pollutants that are invading our air, water, and land to protect our children and grandchildren by enforcing the EPA guidelines that our federal government has turned back. Learn more
Those who push back saying solar panels have heavy metals do not understand the long game of using a product. Panels are environmental expensive when made, but cease their impact once manufactured. Carbon-based fuels continue to damage the environment through their product lives. Learn more
I believe in the clean promise of solar, wind and geothermal energy. Colorado is the perfect locale for these alternatives. We have an educated, skilled workforce who will make the transition from carbon based energy to cleaner energy alternatives. Our job is to make this transition happen as soon as possible without significant impact to current worker's salaries. Looking at current gas and oil subsidiaries currently propping up carbon energy is a good place to start. Let's transition the subsidiaries to clean energy options. Learn more
The one thing on which I hope we can agree is that too many of our friends, neighbors and relatives and CHILDREN are taken by gun violence. We can all do better because we must. The overwhelming majority of Coloradans, including 78% of Colorado gun owners, support common-sense firearm safety regulations to prevent gun violence. These include supporting the Extreme Risk Protection Order (ERPO), background checks for all sales, and a 10 day waiting period. As a responsible gun owner, I will defend our Second Amendment rights while working tirelessly to prevent violent crime and suicide. My stance is that people can have/use/carry weapons as long as they are competently trained. Concealed carry classes in Colorado require 3 hours of classes and no live firing. I advocate for live firing and time in a video simulation that mimics stressful, real-life situations where you have to decide to shoot or don’t shoot. Learn more
I support the FAMLI bill that will be introduced (again!) this session. The bill will expand the definition of family to include all loved ones who can care for someone who needs help. I’m intrigued by Social Insurance, administered by the state to pay for family leave. It sounds like an affordable option for employers. Healthy families mean more productive workers. Affordable family healthcare, and specifically women's healthcare is an essential component of keeping all of us healthy. Family planning, and check ups should be included for all women. Healthy, vibrant women are the key to a productive society. Learn more
We need to do more to reduce the costs and availability of affordable medical services to prevent medical bankruptcies and agonizing decisions about paying for medication or groceries. I’m pleased to learn more about a state option plan being discussed in this legislative session. Learn more
We need to question if infrastructure, water, and environmental considerations are truly taken into account before building begins. Why are we not insisting developers incorporate solar and wind power into the development plans as well as have developers fund transportation upgrades into 2040?. Learn more
I fully support the history and importance of unions in shaping the American dream. I want to do what I can to help them expand. I believe that unions are in a grand position to shape transitions from shrinking or polluting industries like Oil and Gas to cleaner industries that can use these highly skilled workers. One factor that needs to be addressed is the subsidies from the state given to Oil and Gas. This support should be going to clean energy options and start-up businesses. Being a former teacher, I'd like to see unions continue to take the lead in helping workers to become better educated and earn higher salaries. Learn more
