Get StartedWith Justice Kennedy’s retirement from the US Supreme Court, reproductive health protections are tenuous on a national level. On the state level, we will continue to protect women’s rights to control their bodies and actively build the supports that will allow women access to comprehensive healthcare. Learn more
Our country was founded on the principle that all people are created equal and have certain unalienable rights, and that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. I am proud to support a diverse and inclusive Vermont, where people of color, the LGBTQIA community, and people of all faiths feel welcomed and appreciated. Learn more
The USA has the largest prison population in the world, and not only is it costing us a fortune, it is not an effective way to deal with crime and social issues. I would like to stop the practice of sending Vermont prisoners out of state. I am against for-profit-prisons, as it should never be profitable to lock people up. The money can be better invested in preventive measures. There is some interesting work going on with restorative justice, especially in Lamoille County, that we need to continue to support. Giving tax breaks to big corporations in an attempt to lure them here is not the best use of taxpayer dollars. We should put our resources into what Vermont does best and create a supportive environment for small businesses and support entrepreneurs. Learn more
Higher education is out of reach for many Vermont teenagers and adults. Our rate of high school graduation is one of the highest in the country, but college is too expensive for many. Instead of paying people to move here, let’s invest in our own students and making it attractive to stay and work in Vermont after graduation. Learn more
We need to support our local school boards and work with them to find efficiencies in order to relieve the burden of property taxes. While many school consolidations made sense and were necessary to control our education costs, we need to give this plan a chance to work to reduce education costs, rather than imposing quotas and forcing through constraints after local districts have already passed their budgets. Small businesses and entrepreneurs rely upon cell phone service and internet, and our tourism industry is dependent upon well-maintained roads. We have neglected our infrastructure, and the time has come to invest in it. Learn more
Anyone who has ever tried to get a spot for a child in a daycare knows that we have a serious shortage of childcare slots in Vermont. For parents to be productive members of our economy, they need high quality, affordable childcare options. Learn more
I support gradually raising the minimum wage to $15 per hour. Not only is it a moral imperative to raise people out of poverty, it will reduce staff turnover which will save employers money in the long run. This will inject more money into our local economy. We need to support labor unions as a counterweight to large employers for a functioning labor market. Learn more
We need to offer supports for people so they can take care of their families. Our economy cannot thrive if we force parents to choose between caring for their children and making ends meet. Paid family leave will attract workers to Vermont, which any business owner in Stowe can tell you is crucial to growing our economy. Learn more
