I support the restorative justice program which seeks to change the justice system from a retribution system to a restorative system for appropriate crimes. Learn more

I vigorously oppose the privatization of prisons, which are inherently a governmental responsibility. Privatization opens the system to very expensive abuses as the prison companies lobby for stiffer sentences. Learn more

I support police accountability programs to be sure they are interacting with our communities appropriately. I also support police wearing lapel cams, for the protection of both our community and the police themselves. Learn more

I believe in sentencing equity. The sentence must fit the circumstances of the crime. Learn more

We need to restore adequate funding for our judicial system; courts, district attorneys, and public defenders. Learn more

Education

I support improving teacher and educational assistant salaries to include annual pay increases to pay teachers a living wage with benefits. Learn more

I support smaller classrooms and bringing back arts and trades to our high schools. Learn more

I support local charter schools but oppose out of state and/or for-profit charter schools. A profit motive must not be a factor in making decisions about educational programs. I do not support a voucher system for private schools. Learn more

I support funding for Early Childhood Intervention Programs, Head Start, Pre-School, Pre-K programs to be free for all families. Learn more

I support the recent NM Court decision requiring the state to adequately fund our NM education system. Learn more

Environment / Energy

NM needs to be more vigilant about polluters and holding them responsible for cleaning up their messes. Learn more

I support holding the companies fraqing and mining in our state accountable for using drinking and unmetered water. People's wells are going dry because of the water that these out-of-state corporations are taking. Learn more

I support tough state laws on keeping the environment clean and preventing pollution to make up for the Federal Government EPA's failures. Learn more

I support vigorous opposition to the Texas lawsuit seeking to take water from NM. Learn more

We need to protect and maintain our state parks. Learn more

We should be the world leader in wind and solar energy by broadening our investment in those industries. Our education programs should include training a workforce to design and maintain those systems. Learn more

Government Reform

I support the expansion of public campaign financing so that ordinary people can run for office. Learn more

I support a bill that would make lawmakers that commit fraud, pay-to-play deals, or serious ethics violations, to have their public retirement benefits revoked. The time to clean up the way we do things in New Mexico is now. Learn more

Guns

I also support prosecuting gun owners that allow children to have access to guns. Learn more

I favor responsible gun ownership. I strongly support common sense gun legislation Learn more

Healthcare

I oppose cuts to Medicare and Medicaid and support the state accepting federal money to help with these programs. Learn more

Immigration

I oppose the ICE programs of indefinite detention of families seeking asylum and of course support the restoration of children to their families Learn more

I oppose the government's new program of deportation of immigrants who joined our armed forces with the guarantee of becoming citizens. Learn more

I oppose the wall proposed by President Trump as an impractical and ineffective expense. Learn more

I fully support the DACA program. Learn more

Social Services

Early intervention is the only way to ensure that any disability is detected and dealt with before they reach school age. We need to continue to fund early intervention home programs throughout the state. Learn more

We need to expand our drug rehabilitation options, so anybody can receive treatment when they need it. We need to look at what works including long term sober living facilities offering life and job skill training to wholly rehabilitate people. Learn more

We need to rebuild the mental and behavioral health programs and restore the providers that Gov Suzannah Martinez wrongfully put out of business. Her actions caused thousands to suddenly go without vital treatments. Increases suicides and crime were the result. Proper mental and behavioral health stabilizes our communities. Learn more

Taxes / Budget

We need a more progressive tax system so that the rich and the corporations begin paying their fair share. This is especially important with respect to national corporations that pay no gross receipts tax to this state for business conducted here. Learn more
