I believe that our streets are public assets—important public spaces—where neighbors interact and happy chance encounters occur. It is crucial that our streets live up to this vision, and that starts with Vision Zero, a strategy to eliminate all traffic fatalities and severe injuries on our streets while increasing safe, healthy, equitable mobility for all. This means safe walking routes to school; convenient public transit; less congestion and pollution; and a sidewalk and bicycle network that welcomes all ages and abilities.
