Get StartedCurrently, Indiana doesn't even require public schools to teach sex ed, except for lessons on HIV and AIDS. In addition to pushing for legislation addressing those areas, as a member of Congress I will work to provide support and services that will make it much more likely a woman who finds herself pregnant will decide to keep the baby. That includes things like prenatal and postnatal care, paid parental leave, child care assistance and a refundable child tax credit. Learn more
Trying to ban abortion not only won’t deliver on the promise the leaders of the pro-life movement made, it will also make things worse – and potentially life-threatening – for so many women, as well as the people who love and care about them. Learn more

Especially in a time of inflation, repealing tariffs is a fast, simple way to lower prices for American consumers – and the US companies who rely on components from around the world to make their own products here on our soil – with the stroke of a pen. The Biden Administration knows this, and recently rescinded our 25% tariff on Ukrainian steel, but chose not to do the same for other steel and aluminum tariffs that are costing U.S. consumers an extra $51 billion this year, according to a recent study by the American Action Forum. As a member of Congress, I would pressure the Biden Administration to revoke these tariffs – which again, were not protecting American consumers or businesses even in good economic times – immediately. One study found that formula from European countries – which in many ways may be healthier than US-produced formula, due to EU bans on sugars such as corn syrup and requirements to have higher lactose percentages – often meet FDA nutritional guidelines. However, because they might use scoops based on the metric system, for example, the FDA will not approve them for use in America. Similar to the emergency use authorization designation that the FDA utilized for pandemic-related interventions, I would push to establish independent review boards that can overrule these and similar regulations in a whole host of industries whenever the year-to-year core inflation rate surpasses five percent. At a time when people seem to have less confidence in the federal government than ever, it is imperative that the next Speaker bring to the floor a bill that bans stock trading, something I will call for as a member of Congress. Learn more
That means we also need to abolish arbitrary rules that don’t allow consumers to purchase health insurance across state lines. Increased competition will lower prices, as will expanding the number of doctors by requiring medical schools to reform their antiquated residency system that constricts the supply of physicians in this country, to the point where America has fewer per capita than almost any other developed country. We need to start with revising our tax code that incentivizes our current employer-provided health insurance model. We must begin a gradual transition away from that system, ensuring the money employers are presently spending on employee health plans goes to their employees to pick the coverage that works best for them. Bringing legal immigrants into Northeast Indiana means more money in my pocket and yours, on top of the lower prices that will result from the increase in supply that comes when our companies are operating with the full staff they need. Learn more
And just as Social Security and Medicare have provided a safeguard for our nation’s seniors, we must eventually offer similar protection for Americans of all ages in the event of a serious medical emergency that their primary insurance doesn’t cover – or occurs when they are between providers. Putting a tax on goods imported from other countries may seem like a good idea to protect American companies and workers, but in practice, tariffs end up hurting us the most. Learn more
