As governor, I will call for the General Assembly to immediately pass legislation that will: Prohibit the future sale and possession of assault weapons, while providing a path for current owners of assault weapons to keep them. Require gun owners to securely store their firearms when not under their immediate control. Combat daily gun violence that doesn’t always make national news, by funding research into the gun violence crisis and the programs that address its causes. For decades, we made it difficult to build homes – especially family homes. Regulations, permits, fees and bureaucratic processes are at the heart of what we need to tackle if we are to increase the number of homes built. We cannot fund our way out of this problem – we need to fundamentally change the way we plan for and build housing in our state. Learn more
