I believe that Arizona should legalize, regulate, and tax marijuana. Arresting and jailing people for using marijuana does nothing more than feed the private prison industry, add to our mass incarceration problem, waste taxpayer money on prisons, and ruin people’s lives. Also, it has been shown that incarceration for marijuana is often discriminatory. Blacks and whites illegally use marijuana at about the same rate, yet black people are far more likely to be jailed for the same crime. Learn more
It is time to close the loopholes in our laws that give tax breaks to big corporations that are not headquartered in Arizona. Loopholes are a waste of taxpayer money. It’s time to foster home-grown Arizona business and innovation– instead of shipping tax dollars to Wall Street (in terms of high fees) or giving away millions in corporate tax cuts. Public education is the road forward for our children and our country. It’s time the Arizona Legislature fully funded it. The Invest In Ed Citizens Initiative, if it gets on the ballot and if it passed, is a good start, but it doesn't go far enough. Learn more
I fully support the Red for Ed movement and their demands for raises for teachers and support staff; sustainable, designated, long-term funding for education; restoration of public education funding back to 2008 levels; and no new tax giveaways until the schools are funded. I also support the Invest In Ed Citizens Initiative which would raise more than $600 million in dedicated funding for public education. Learn more

Good public policy balances individual liberty and social responsibility. Big money politics, voter suppression, disinformation, and the slow death of the free press have adulterated our democracy and put special interests in charge. If you look at gun control, school choice, environmental regulations, the Affordable Care Act repeal plans, or the banking system through the prism of liberty versus responsibility, it is obvious that individual liberty is being promoted over the social responsibility and the common good. I believe that eventually the US will have Medicare for all because the current hodgepodge is not working, after repeated attacks from the Republican Party and President Trump. In the meantime, I plan to do what I can to improve cost and access to care. Learn more
I believe that Arizona workers deserve a living wage, they deserve the right to organize, they deserve the right to be paid for every hour they work, and they deserve food and housing security. Too many Arizonans have none of this because the Republican Party works for big corporate donors– and not for the people of our state. I also support the Red for Ed movement and the Fight for $15 for the minimum wage ($15/hour) and for adjunct professors ($15,000/class). Learn more
