Get StartedExperienced judges, prosecutors, defense lawyers and law enforcement all tell me the same thing: There is one system of justice for the rich, and another for the rest of us. Here in Arizona, we’ve lost our way. Our state has the fourth highest incarceration rate in the nation. We’ve abandoned our foundational principle of ‘justice for all’. The crisis of mass incarceration destroys families, disproportionately discriminates against people of color. It discriminates against our poor. It is biased against our LGBTQ community. It damages our economy. It tears at the moral fabric of our courts and our communities. Learn more
High-quality public education is a right of every Arizonan. There simply is no public investment as crucial and meaningful for our families. When our legislature robs us of millions of dollars in funding for our public schools year after year to offer corporate giveaways and tax breaks to the rich, the damage has a reverberating effect. I believe in the right for all of Arizona’s children to attend a public school that provides the best possible learning environment; one that fully funds all-day kindergarten, school lunch programs, and the arts. I believe our children deserve to go to school every day with highly trained, fully staffed, and fairly paid professionals, ready to instill in them a lifelong love of learning. We know that is what will serve them best for their careers and their lives as empowered citizens. Learn more
We must increase the availability and accessibility of truly affordable housing for low-income Arizonans. As we see with public education, the state funding allocated to the Arizona Housing Trust Fund has not recovered to pre-recession levels. This important fund provides needed resources for housing development and assistance, as well as for homeless shelters. It also funds important eviction prevention programs across our state. The current miserly appropriations that fund the Department of Housing has a brutal and lasting impact on Arizonans that are desperately in need. Learn more
You work too hard, and we can do better. We must do better. It is paramount that our Legislature work for working people, to expand your rights in the workplace, and ensure that every Arizonan is able to live a secure and better life. As a great labor leader said, the economy is not the weather—it is a set of rules, and the rules are increasingly written by the rich for their own benefit. We are changing that by organizing our communities on a scale that will overwhelm the greedy corporate parasites that are creating a permanent underclass of workers to serve the top 1%. Learn more
