L am committed to supporting Veteran-Owned small businesses. Congress must reform our procurement processes to make it easier for these businesses to compete, and win contracts; thereby accessing a sizable portion of recurring Government expenditure. Learn more

Support the expansion of the G.I. Bill so that our Veterans can continue to have access to college, graduate school, and training programs. Learn more

Drug Policy

In keeping our communities safe, we must also acknowledge that every year, thousands of Americans are affected by drug abuse and drug overdose. The Illicit drug trade destroys lives, tears families apart, and fuels crime. We need to take a comprehensive approach to solve these problems including prevention, treatment, and enforcement. This can be achieved through increased funding for drug treatment programs, better education about the dangers of drug abuse, and stronger criminal penalties for drug traffickers. Learn more

Economy

Furthermore, I will work with local businesses to create job training programs that will help people acquire the skills they need to succeed in the modern job market. We will also provide tax incentives to businesses that hire locally and invest in the community. Learn more

As the Representative for MD-5, I'll explore measures that include giving tax breaks to working families, and providing targeted relief programs for fixed-income individuals.  Inflation might be a complex challenge, but together, we'll face it head-on. Learn more

Education

We need to ensure that our schools are adequately funded with the resources our children need to learn and grow. We also need to invest in our teachers, who are the backbone of our education system. By providing them with the support they need, we can ensure that they will be able to provide our students with the best possible education. Learn more

Finally, in response to the episodes of violence that we have seen in schools across the country, we need to ensure that our students are safe and secure while they are on school grounds. I support increasing, and diversifying, school security measures such as metal detectors, security cameras, and in some cases, trained security personnel. Learn more

Preparing for the future also does not prevent us from acknowledging the economic realities of the present. For students who want to gain the skills and knowledge needed to enter the workforce quickly, we should promote trade schools and certificate programs as an avenue to job security. Learn more

Next, I support an increased investment in STEM education, focusing on high-quality Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math programs in our public schools and beyond.  Parents need to have a say in their childrens’ education, and parents overwhelmingly support preparing their children for the science and technology jobs of the future. Healthcare

After the 2020 pandemic, there was a significant rise in the need for mental health services across the State. I will help craft initiatives that promote the importance of early intervention mental health services for our citizens regardless of age and background; including students, veterans, senior citizens, and everyday hard-working Americans. As your representative, I will fight to pass Medicare for all to guarantee healthcare as a human right. Until we have that, I will advocate for reforms in the insurance industry to make coverage more transparent, affordable, and reduce out-of-pocket expenses. I will also push for legislation to expand telehealth coverage, working hand-in-hand with healthcare providers to bridge the gaps present in our current healthcare system. Learn more

Immigration

I believe that the United States should be a beacon of hope for those who are suffering violence and injustice, this is why we should continue to protect and expand our asylum systems and other humanitarian efforts. Learn more

Furthermore, I believe that immigrants who hold jobs, continually pay taxes, and are not convicted of any felony crimes, should be given a mechanism to achieve legal status. Learn more

I support policies and programs that make it easier for qualified immigrants and their families to become full and equal citizens, including increasing funding for culturally appropriate immigrant inclusion services, English classes, and workforce development. Learn more

I believe that the United States needs a comprehensive immigration policy that reflects 21st century realities. I support a humane immigration system that values human dignity, yet respects our laws, and ultimately rewards legal immigration with a clear path to naturalization. Learn more

Infrastructure / Transportation

Every member of MD-5 deserves a well-paying job that paves the way for a brighter tomorrow. To achieve this, I believe that the government must invest massively into the infrastructure of our country. Our roads, bridges, energy infrastructure, and public transit systems are the driving force of our communities. By allocating substantial federal resources here, we won’t only be improving our daily commutes, protecting our homes, or ensuring energy independence, we will be creating thousands of jobs right here at home in construction, engineering, technology and other emerging fields.
