In keeping our communities safe, we must also acknowledge that every year, thousands of Americans are affected by drug abuse and drug overdose. The Illicit drug trade destroys lives, tears families apart, and fuels crime. We need to take a comprehensive approach to solve these problems including prevention, treatment, and enforcement. This can be achieved through increased funding for drug treatment programs, better education about the dangers of drug abuse, and stronger criminal penalties for drug traffickers. Learn more

We need to ensure that our schools are adequately funded with the resources our children need to learn and grow. We also need to invest in our teachers, who are the backbone of our education system. Finally, in response to the episodes of violence that we have seen in schools across the country, we need to ensure that our students are safe and secure while they are on school grounds. Next, I support an increased investment in STEM education, focusing on high-quality Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math programs in our public schools and beyond. After the 2020 pandemic, there was a significant rise in the need for mental health services across the State. I will help craft initiatives that promote the importance of early intervention mental health services for our citizens regardless of age and background; including students, veterans, senior citizens, and everyday hard-working Americans. As your representative, I will fight to pass Medicare for all to guarantee healthcare as a human right. Until we have that, I will advocate for reforms in the insurance industry to make coverage more transparent, affordable, and reduce out-of-pocket expenses.
