Advocate for support staff in our all our schools, including social workers, nurses and librarians, who ensure every student has the resources they need to excel in school. Prioritize shifting away from standardized testing and toward building essential skills such as writing, coding, languages, and STEM. Bolster strong and active Local School Councils and parental involvement – proven keys to the success of public schools. Support expanding educational opportunities in correctional facilities to ensure that our returning citizens are able to enter the job force as quickly as possible upon re-entry. Learn more

Reduce the role of big money in politics by reforming our campaign finance system. Refuse to accept donations from corporations or any interest group which seeks to compromise the independence of elected leaders. Learn more
Push for strong ethics reforms and promote transparency and accountability for all elected leaders. Fight to prohibit state legislators from working as paid lobbyists who lobby municipal and county governments on bills that directly benefit their own financial interests and the interests of their immediate families. Reduce property taxes by supporting the Data Modernization Bill so that homeowners on the Southside and south suburbs are not disproportionately paying property taxes that should be paid by wealthy corporations and commercial property owners. Learn more
Support a progressive income tax structure, which will be on the November 2020 general election ballot, that will lower taxes for the middle class and make the richest among us pay their fair share. Develop a more fair sales tax system that does not overly tax essential goods like groceries, and instead generates revenue from non-essential, luxury goods and services, like portfolio management and bookkeeping services.
