Get StartedEducation without question should be a cornerstone in the foundation pursuing the American dream. Educators who dedicate their professional lives to teaching our children, they should be highly regarded and as well respected as any CEO of a Fortune 500 company. These professionals are most often underfunded in some cases and at a disadvantage with larger class sizes and less resources to do their jobs. While teachers are in some cases are looked down upon for the very important function they provide to our productive society. Regardless of the status of the educational institution, be they privately funded Charter Schools or part of the Public-School Systems. Their primary focus and priority should remain the educating the next generations. With exorbitant costs of obtaining a college degree having skyrocketed over to an average of $32,000 a year at a major university/college like L.S.U. for example. As opposed to say $1,500 a year in the late 1960’s early 1970’s. A totally rhetorical question to ask, is why are Head Coaches & Athletics Directors earning four to a hundred times more than the tenured professors? Salvador understands how difficult it is to have to work two jobs to afford the normal costs of living, because it was something he experienced personally. Salvador had the G.I. Bill but it barely scratched the surface of the costs of books & tuition every semester in the late 20th Century and early into the 21st Century. Learn more
Meaningful common sense gun reform is easily achievable because President Clinton did it back in 1994, but a majority of Republicans are reticent, reluctant or outright scared to broach the subject of another assault style weapons ban. Their hesitancy is based in a fear of offending the Gun Lobby, which is heavily steep in a misguided claim against the 2nd Amendment protections. One only has to look at the havoc wreaked on the victims of mass shootings perpetrated by shooters with AR-15 style weapons. The recent carnage of the mass shooting at Robb Elementary proves that weapons like the gun used in that killing spree, should be recognized as weapons of war and not for ordinary citizens. The bodies of those 19 children and two teachers were mangled beyond recognition is most cases. The AR-15 is a semi-automatic civilian version of the M-16, which has been used in major military conflicts around the world dating back to the Vietnam War in 1964. I could talk about statistical similarities, but I think I’ve properly illustrated my point already. Mass shootings with these assault style weapons only leave bloody carnage in its wake. It’s not even good for hunters, unless their intended prey is wearing Kevlar and shooting back at them. I’m in favor of the 2nd Amendment but, common sense should tell us that AR-15 style weapons should not be on our streets anywhere in this country. The framers of the US constitution had no way of knowing then what kind of weapons we would come up in the mid-20th Century, when they conceived the 2nd Amendment. Learn more

Access to high quality and affordable healthcare is another important issue which encompasses basic healthcare and prescription drugs. Making some upgrades to improve the A.C.A. making it that much better, getting rid of the hysteria propagated by some Republican members of Congress (both Chambers) just because of it’s nickname Obamacare. What Republicans blatantly overlook on a regular basis is that Obamacare (Affordable Care Act) was essentially a Republican concept that then Governor Mitt Romney had instituted in the State Of Massachusetts. The rampant hypocrisy of the Republican Party only dislikes the A.C.A. because a democrat, President Obama got it passed into the law of the land. After over fifty attempts to repeal the law, but Republicans have no apparent interest in replacing it or doing anything to improve the law wherever it may need it. Things such as bringing down the premiums for working families or decreasing prescription drug prices Learn more
