Get StartedMy entire perspective on being a pro-life woman was shaped in my life’s work and passion - both having a best friend who happens to have Down syndrome, Kasey to the individuals with Down syndrome, their families and caregivers that I met during my tenure at the National Down Syndrome Society. My outlook on this issue is very deep for me, it’s one thing for you to say you are pro-life and it’s another to do something about it. Learn more
When it comes to the over 200,000 veterans in Kansas, we owe these patriots our gratitude and freedom. Whether our veterans fought and served our country in World War II, Korea, Vietnam, the Gulf War or as recent as Iraq and Afghanistan, I believe our veterans deserve access to quality healthcare, education, workforce opportunities and economic opportunity as well as greater transparency, care and accountability from the VA. We cannot allow government bureaucracy and partisan politics to get in the way of supporting and protecting our veterans. Learn more
I will advance free-market policies that provide incentives to businesses to economically empower women through greater access to paid family and medical leave and expand opportunities to save for costly dependent childcare and dependent adults. This will allow American families to increase take home pay and provide more choice for their benefits and paychecks without expensive mandates on businesses or tax burdens on families who are already struggling to make ends meet. In order for our students to succeed, I believe Congress must ensure state and local organizations have the flexibility to meet the unique needs of our students. As a leader who has directly been involved in and participated in Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for over twenty years, worked on the implementation of No Child Left Behind (NCLB) and the Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA) and fought to fully fund the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), I believe in a customized, quality education for all students, graduating students who are career ready - whether students go straight into the workforce or proceed to enroll in a technical school, trade school, community college and/or post-secondary institution. Bottom line, I believe the expectation should be employment for all of our Kansas students that meets the needs of Kansas economy and our Kansas City region employers as well as adapt to the ever-changing gig economy. . I believe that passionate, qualified teachers and administrators, strong Kansas schools that are accountable and coupled with engaged parents and community members are the key ingredients for ensuring our Kansas students learn effectively to their full potential, are able to pursue their own dreams to find a career of their choosing and contribute to society. I am a free-market advocate and believe tariffs should be used sparingly if at all. A significant part of the Kansas economy is agriculture, aviation and technology (companies like Garmin from my hometown of Olathe, Kansas) all of which need more markets. We must look at the whole picture before deciding on retaliatory tactics -- that might be good for some and not others. Learn more
As someone who has seen firsthand how Medicaid, the closest thing to socialized medicine in our country, fails people with disabilities every day - it is time to have a real policy conversation on healthcare and the issues plaguing our system: cost, access, quality of care and the need for medical innovation. I am not only committed to working on solving the complex issues pegging our healthcare system for all populations - people born with pre-existing conditions, our veterans, seniors, children born into poverty and working adults - - I will be a national leader in Congress on this issue. We need to offer a system that offers choice and free-market solutions that actually moves all our citizens toward a healthier life and ensures employer-sponsored health insurance is affordable for business and organizations. Every sovereign country has the right and the responsibility to protect its borders. I believe that the solution to the issues surrounding immigration reform centers on three major issues – the need for a structure to secure our border, the need to modernize our immigration system utilizing the most up-to-date equipment and technology to address the backlog and allowing our legal immigration system to function as it was intended and finally, executing a strategy to prevent the overcrowding at our detention centers and institute humane policies. As someone who helped fight to reunite a young girl at the border who was separated from her family, I believe we can achieve all of this without needing to institute policies that lead to young children being separated from their families. As a C.E.O., I was required to balance our budget - Congress and our government should be held to the same standard by balancing tax cuts and spending cuts. As a fiscal conservative, I believe the federal government should take less of our money not more. I am a strong supporter of a simpler tax code with lower rates and a broader base. I have worked throughout my career to enact tax laws, like the Stephen Beck Jr., Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) Act that allow Americans to save their own hard-working funds instead of relying on government assistance. .
