Get StartedI recognize that many people who are battling addiction right now are members of our community who first took these drugs to combat pain. I want to help people who have become addicted to opioids, by ensuring they have access to evidence-based healthcare services, including mental health and rehabilitation. I also support new approaches to pain management that don't rely on opioids or other highly addictive drugs. I will also be tough on drug dealers, whether they're on the street, in doctors’ offices, or in drug company board rooms. Learn more
As a lifelong public school teacher, I have learned the value that a strong K-12 education program has for both students and the entire community. Kids who get the right programs from early childhood are better able to enter the workforce, find well-paying jobs, pay taxes and avoid crime and homelessness. A well-planned budget is crucial and I support legislation that ensures our public education programs will be properly funded. I am also committed to reforming the student loan system to reduce the crushing debt our students face today. We also need a better way to pay for education—with less reliance on raising property taxes that might push our senior citizens out of their homes or make it impossible for young families to stay here. I believe that Harrisburg must work harder to protect our air and water, not just for our own health and safety, but also for our children and their children. I will work tirelessly to ensure that Pennsylvania invests in transitioning us towards cleaner sources of energy. I also believe that coal and gas companies must be regulated and polluters held accountable. Learn more
It breaks my heart to think of how our campuses and classrooms have been turned into places where children might have to shelter from some unnamed threat. I believe that gun violence is a public health crisis and will work to enact legislation that protects our citizens. I am also honored to have been named a Candidate of Distinction by Moms Demand Action. Learn more
Quality affordable healthcare should be available to all. I will fight to retain the important elements of the Affordable Care Act that matter most to our community, including coverage for those with pre-existing conditions, access to Medicare for people over 55 and affordable prescription drug pricing. I also support coverage for mental health, which will benefit us all by addressing the problems that come with drug addiction, gun violence and joblessness. I am fully committed to supporting women’s healthcare, including access to all reproductive health services. And finally, because over 800,000 Pennsylvanians have benefited from Medicaid expansion, I will fight any attempt to eliminate that program. Learn more
Strong families need solid and reliable wages. I believe in and support unions and, as a school teacher, I have been a proud member most of my working life. I will ensure that we create a strong economic backbone for our community to attract and keep families in our district. I am also honored to have received endorsements from the AFT / PFT, PSEA and Washington County Labor Council. Learn more
