I support the enactment of a citizens redistricting commission similar to Michigan’s. This commission would not include elected officials, political employees, or their family members. The commission must include an equal number of citizens registered as Democrats, Republicans, and with neither party. The commission would hear expert testimony, study the census, and produce maps that align with the state and federal constitution. The final map must be supported by members from both parties and independents. If the commission is unable to agree, the Supreme Court, not the legislature, will select a map from the options produced by the commission. Learn more
