While corporations pay no taxes, wealthy individuals pay a lower percentage than many middle class Americans. All the while our current administration is cutting funds to education, housing, and Medicare. The wealthy in this country must pay their share and take the tax burden off average Americans. Corporations have proven that they will not rise above the minimum standards the government sets in order to take care of their employees and contractors. We must raise the minimum wage. No West Texan should be housing insecure while working full-time nor should they be told “it’s a matter of personal responsibility” when they struggle to gain access to fresh fruits and vegetables.
