Focus on providing funding toward educational and recreational programs that will promote healthy physical activity, emotional growth, mentorship and employment opportunities. Collaborate with the Poughkeepsie School District and help provide the resources needed to help our youth obtain the educational tools they need to thrive in our city. As mayor, I will put more focus on the gun violence and gang activity occurring in the City of Poughkeepsie by working closely with community partners who specialize in dealing with the root causes of why some youth turned to gun violence and participate in gangs. Learn more
Create and develop simplistic and flexible incentives to preserve long-term affordability. Continue to work with Community Housing partners such as DC Habitat for Humanity and Hudson River Housing, who specialize in helping first-generation homebuyers and low-wealth families on the path to homeownership. Unlock the potential of vacant lots long considered too small or irregular for traditional housing stock with innovative smaller homes. Use some CDBG funds to create a loan lending program that will finance some of the repairs of dilapidated housing units. Require a portion of the new housing developed to be permanently affordable to low- or moderate-income households. Learn more
Explore re-zoning to allow for mixed-use development and multi-family housing that doesn’t overburden or drastically change the beauty and fabric of existing neighborhoods. Invite community input along every step of the way to make sure we are making community decisions equitably. Learn more
As Mayor, my administration will be more diligent in seeking federal, state and local grants to help leverage our city budget and provide additional funding needed to assist with capital improvements, technology upgrades, additional support services for families, including our seniors, businesses, and improvements to our water and sewer piping, etc. Learn more

Invest in skill building and career pathway programs aimed at preparing and training city residents, especially women and people of color, with the knowledge and resources they need to find meaningful employment and start their own businesses. Collaborate with our colleges and educational partners to help create and provide business development and technical assistance in the form of workshops, seminars, and various grants for workforce development, and coordinate with the business community partners doing similar work in business expansion and creation.
